Thanks Andy! It depends on the plugin you're using. Are you using the plugin for base correction, grade or both? If the plugin lets you apply LUTs or make a base correction, you should probably do it all inside the plugin.

I have a MacBook Pro (20170, and several 4 TB externals on a hub. I also have an Alienware w/ an Invidia 1080- Working on Davinci Resolve and After Effects- I'm not yet proficient with either- closer every day though... I think I would like to work from my Alien in the future due to the high power video processor- handling 4K footage with the Mac is a PITA.

Just a question. I've tried your CinemaGrade free luts. What is the difference between using external/imported LUTs as yours and using the generic LUTs included in FCPX and tweaking them?

Just different looks, even for technical purposes (e.g. convert Log to Rec709) it's still a subjective thing. So I would recommend going with what looks the best.

Cinema Grade has several 1 click tools. For example if you are using an xrite chart, Cinema Grade can read it and correct exposure and color balance for you. It can address log automatically with ACES color management, you just need to select your camera and color profile. There is an auto white balance feature too for correcting color balance automatically. And finally you can use the built in looks or the look transfer tool to add a look to your footage. 👍😊

Good video. I’ve been very happy using Motion 5 for motion tracking. I can right click on a section and send to Motion from within my FCPX project and then republish back to FCPX, saved as a custom plugin.

Does anyone have experience with the DAW Bridge Final Cut Pro Extension? When I try to export the audio to Logic Pro and, after editing, import it back to Final Cut, there is an awful clipping of the sound that isn't there in Logic Pro. I was wondering if a DAW Bridge Extension would solve this. There is one available the app store, but it isn't cheap. So I want to know first about other people's experiences.
