That's more Izzet, normally pure blue is slower that that. Unless it's Dramatic Scepter.
@VerrouSuo4 жыл бұрын
Daniel Amade oh, definitely - Izzet storm is funny, but blue usually serves as the enabler for combos, instead of the key piece, (unless it’s some extra turn or stasis shenanigan, which plays into the “f your board state” thing). It’s why I almost never play mono-blue-too bland.
@LC-wv7tz4 жыл бұрын
Funny way to spell Jund or... just anything with Green. Combos don't really care about boardstate regardless about what color they are coming from unless the boardstate involves stom stax elements. Rule of Law will shut down most combo decks bar none. Except maybe Yissan.
@VerrouSuo4 жыл бұрын
L C with blue, it’s more about turning disadvantage on its head. When you combo off in all of these other colors, you probably already had the in-game time and space to do so. Blue (especially Sultai and Temur) just assembles some nonsense in an upkeep, untaps, casts Expropriate, and everyone dies. That’s not to say other colors can’t do that-Blue just excels at creating space for itself very quickly, and very often; that’s how it enables these combos in the first place.The reason I mention the other guy’s board state is it implies that he/she is being perceived as the biggest threat, and Blue is just like, “nice value engine you’ve got there. It would be a shame if I won in the space of one draw step.”

Rhystic and remora are game winning and obviously gilded drake is insane, other good cards with very high ceilings are copy artifact, steal enchantment and spellseeker. Blue, the color of fun :3

I have a pet blue card I'd like to show the class! It's called Submerge. Submerge is an Instant that costs 4U and reads: "If an opponent controls a Forest and you control an Island, you may cast this spell without paying its mana cost. Put target creature on top of its owner's library." If you're playing this spell you're in blue and definitely control an Island. And how many games with 4-5 players have you played in where no one is playing green? Very few, I'm willing to bet. Notice the lands don't even have to be basic! Shocks, duals, tangos, bicycle, and tricycle lands all count. And the owner of the creature you're targeting doesn't even have to be the player who controls a Forest! In my honest opinion I think this card is either extremely overlooked or not many people know about it. It's definitely a hidden gem.

Parallel Thoughts is a big favorite of mine. An enchantment that pulls not 1, not 2, but SEVEN cards of your choice out of your library, and makes it pretty much a second library you can choose to draw from is great for pulling out combo pieces for easy access, or even just grabbing seven lands to ensure you always get that land pull when you need it. The downside is if the enchantment leaves play, your pulls are then lost to you, but hey, you're playing blue, odds are you'll have something available to protect it.

My favorite counterspell is miscast. It can only counter noncreature spells, but that's usually what I want to counter anyway, and it only costs one blue. Other than not being able to counter creature spells, the only drawback is that it allows your opponent to pay 3 mana for the spell to not be countered, but 3 is a lot. It's unlikely opponents will have 3 mana left after a big scary spell you want to counter. Miscast is cheap in terms of mana and money, but is still effective. That's why it's my favorite

Some of my blue recommendations: Bribery: Rarely a dud in commander, stealing a creature out of someone's deck usually results in some insane value. Spellskite: The ability to redirect key spells and abilities for "free" can seriously screw with your opponents. Fog Bank: With so many large creatures running around in commander, an essentially invincible blocker is always welcome. Baral, Chief of Compliance: You want to counter things? Great, Baral wants to help you counter things! He makes your counterspells cheaper (along with all your instants and sorceries), and let's you loot to boot. Some Honorable Mentions: Bident of Thassa / Coastal Piracy / Reconnaissance Mission: Drawing a card whenever you hit another player with a creature is particularly useful in a color with so many evasive creatures. Scourge of Fleets: A huge payoff for playing heavy blue in your deck, bouncing most if not all of your opponents' creatures when it hits the field. Phyrexian Ingester: Need a large creature? Need to remove someone else's problematic creature? Why not both with Phyrexian Ingester? And being in a color that can potentially blink him over and over again to continually remove problematic creatures from the board just makes him that much sweeter.
