Great video, Steve. Been an Alfred user for many years - just switched to Raycast yesterday. Infinitely better an easier to configure. Going to sign up for Pro and try out AI.

Great video. I think it was nicely done; Quick, concise and to-the-point without any unnecessary fluff. I recently started using Raycast. Do you happen to know if there is a way to use the File Search function such that is shows matching folder names, similar to how Alfred shows them when you do a search? Thx.
@stevedylandev Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! 🙏🏻 Raycast does have a "Search Files" command that will allow you to search either the names of files or folders on your system. At the moment it does not have a way to filter your results to just folders, although it would be nice. On the flip side, thanks to Raycast's dev platform, there is a third party extension exclusively for folder searching! www.raycast.com/GastroGeek/folder-search

Great video! Just found Alfred and am attempting to compare. Looks like raycast might be a better option as a developer!

I was too actually until I got Raycast; personally think it’s much more suitable for developers because of the plugin ecosystem!

I was using Yabai but switched to Raycast window management not too long ago due to how buggy Yabai was
@CalvinVadivelu9 ай бұрын
Hey just got raycast yesterday, yea finding a lot of ways raycast has been helping as a software eng. I'm actually kind of interested in that tiling window manager you referenced. Been trying to find the perfect window manager lately and kind of struggling. Any recommendations?
@stevedylandev9 ай бұрын
Glad to hear you're finding raycast useful! 🔥 In the video I used Yabai, but not too long after I stopped using it from buggy performance :/ I hear others have had better success since then. Nowadays I just use Raycast's builtin window management and MacOS spaces to manage my flow. Hopefully will film a video on this soon!

What tiling window manager are you using on Mac?
@stevedylandev Жыл бұрын
I think at the time of this video I might have been using Yabai. I don’t use it anymore, got too glitchy. These days I use Tmux and the built in window manager from Raycast. Hoping to do another video soon of my dev workflow that will show some of that :)
@SpencerLundgren Жыл бұрын
Makes sense, I tried Yabai for a while but was also disappointed by how glitchy it was. That would be cool to see. I also use Tmux, and currently use hammerspoon for window management/switching. It would be interesting to see if raycast can switch monitor focus with a keyboard shortcut (without moving current windows to other screens).
@stevedylandev Жыл бұрын
@@SpencerLundgren Hopefully will have something up soon! Unfortunately Raycast doesn't support focus switching, with either windows or displays. Thankfully I'm pretty much a 1 monitor user with multiple spaces that I switch between. Works for now! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
