Here's my picks for the top five best maps of Battlefield 4, and what makes them great. We’ve all got our favorite maps, and today I’m going to talk about my own top five best conquest maps from Battlefield 4. While I’m pulling some of these maps from my own personal opinions, I’m also going to be looking at the data from Battlefield 4 and talking about the balance (or imbalance) of some of these maps. Some are going to be from expansions, and some are from Vanilla.

Grumpy Stormtrooper what i hate is when my own team mates blow up the sky scarper we are in control of. the sky scraper being down doesnt particularly bother me as i never stay on the skyscraper for very long. i end up going to b and a if the enemy control it, those 2 points are my favorite really. ive had more gun fights in those areas then i have on the tower.

Pearl Market is one of my most disliked maps in BF4. I think the verticality throws me off. If I played more of it I would probably like it. Great video.

I bought BF4 Premium a few days ago, played Pearl Market for the first time without knowing what this map is all about. Well as an infantry only player, i was totally blown away. Its literally the best i could ask for. Note that i was playing the vanilla version of this game for over a year, and locker was the only conquest map i enjoyed and a few TDM version of other vanilla maps. :)

This video was done very well. I agree with every map you have on the list. I would also include Firestorm since I never got a chance to play 64 players in BF3. I think Pearl Market doesn't get the credit it deserves. Its a blast to play on hardcore!

Another thing about Pearl Market that wasn't mentioned, and that ALOT of players don't realize: its BY FAR the most enjoyable map to play as a Commander on. You get Cruise Missiles on that map, but unlike other maps where it can take upwards to 30 seconds for the missile to arrive, the lead time in Pearl Market is super short at around 11 seconds. This means that as soon as you fire it: it arrives very quickly. On top of that: the blast penetrates through everything. If enemies are inside the building you're aiming for: they're probably dead, and with the density of some of these buildings, you can rack up ALOT of kills on it. I once got MVP on Conquest Small Pearl Market as a Commander, and MVP as a Commander basically never happens... but I did it.

I know a lot of players dislike siege of shanghai, but the amount of unbelievably close games I had on this map vastly outweigh all other maps. Probably combined. Very often you'll find teams fighting and winning just by the edge of the teeth, with like 20 point difference. A lot of tense game finales. Lots of epic moments. Vehicles, infantry, tactics. It all comes together so well on this map.

Just realized that Siege of Shanghai is somehow a Wake Island 2.0 with Bridges and a destructable Skyscraper in the middle. Maybe that's another reason for the popularity of that map.

I was actually quite surprised with your choices. So here are my personal fav’s: 1. Operation Locker 2. Golmud Railway 3. Siege of Shangai 4. Operation Metro 5. Zavod 311 I know that Locker is sometimes one-sided match, but there are in fact many possibilities when getting chocked on Charlie. Metro is also one the maps you will get often stuck and hold from either Bravo(when RU holds Bravo and Alpha) or Alpha (when US holds all points), but (!) if you play on 32 slot server, I am in most cases able to sneak through the offense and cap either Charlie, Bravo or both.

I really am not a fan of Lockers as it is a pretty significant grind. I like my Conquest maps to encourage more strategy/mobility. Being locked into firing lanes doesn't make me very happy.

I like the grind, I like to step in, push choke points without worrying about getting killed, because I know I can back it up with my accuracy and agressivity. Well in Asia server,locker is the most popular(more than metro) map in fact which there are many called ONLY .But I found western servers dont't usually limit the specfic weapon(especially explovsive),so if the people are flooded here,it tend to make this map unfair and not interesting.

Easily Siege after I found servers with no levolution, chopper kill limits, no uncap camping, and most importantly active admins, who enforce the rules. Fantastic gameplay. Zavod is my second favorite, but unlike Siege, there is no way of breaking out from a spawn trap, which happens time to time. A good tanker, AA and scout pilot together can easily dominate a whole team. Absolute blast on hardcore, IF you have a server with strict sniper limits. Least favorite: Dawnbreaker. Unbalanced teams lead to rooftop camping and just waiting for the ticket bleed to do it's job. Spawn trapping is easy. Jets on this map - why on earth?

Lancing is clearly the best. Placing all BF4 vehicles into a small little map was and is a great idea and I hope to see that design return in future Battlefields. /s In no particular order, my actual 4 favorite maps for CQL are probably Golmud Railway, Dragon Valley, Siege of Shanghai, and Operation Outbreak. Can't think of a 5th one yet. They're very enjoyable experiences and although some may not be as well balanced, they're still great anyways IMO. Good list.

Great map but the anti air reaches spawn to spawn and 80% of players abuse it. Faggot AA campers can wipe out the entire enemy's team air inside the comfort and protection from there spawn. Same goes for a lot of other battlefield 4 maps. The anti air requires no skill and gets nooby player's kills from across the map. I think it needs a nerf. That's my two cents.

The only map I truly love is Zavod 311 (I don't usually play on DLC maps). I'd love to say many of vanilla maps are actually good, if there were no roof camping. I wish I could play on shanghai, flood zone, dawn breaker, rogue, etc without roof camping. There are way too many roof camping spots that are painful to access, or only accessible by chopper IMO. Elevators are usually just suicide boxes, there are not enough ladders, stairs. I have no problem with vertical gameplay but roof camping in BF4 is just exhausting, not fun.

Zavod is my number one map I like concealing myself as a support in the hills next to D and deny enemy reinforcements from c and if need be E. Setup with a 2409 bipod suppressed ,with a claymore watching your back against snipers looking for a spot.

Do you prefer Bandar Desert or Dragon Pass(both ridiculously huge)? Bandar Desert holds a special place in me because the day it came out me and my friends played rush on it...good PS3 times, I threw that console away back in 2014

Dragon Pass was pretty imbalanced and generally unfun to get around in. One big choke in the map. It's the metro of vehicles. I much prefer Bandar.

No one is going to read this but aight. I play on ps3 so only conquest small and max 24 players. Also there are a lot of framedrops. I also do not own any paid dlc. 1.Operation Locker 😍 I luv hectic, tactical infantry gameplay and this map delivers just that. The cafeteria is my fav point followed by the cells. The only thing I despise about it is the middle point (The Tower). There is no cover around it and the frame drop is ridiculous. 2.Siege of Shanghai 😄 Pretty good infantry gameplay on the skyscraper and on point C (conquest small). Driving tanks and flying choppers is also pretty satisfying. 3.Dawnbreaker 😀 Particularly good on Rush as the attacking side. But conquest is pretty good as well, especially when folks are not camping on the rooftops. 4.Rogue Transmission 😊 Fun time between helipad and radiotelescope. Jets can be useful as well. 5.Zavod 311 ☺ So many good and few things bad. Insanely good infantry action in the main facility between points B and C. D and A are mediocre at best and the rooftop campers can be a pain in the ass. Its also good in Rush 6.Golmud Railway 😑 Too big for 12v12. Often nothing happens for a solid 5 minutes when suddenly you are blown to smithereens by a random tank. 7.Paracel Storm 😒 Laggy as f and also too big although ridin boats is usually fun. Otherwise dull as ditchwater and annoying to move from point A and C to anywhere. 9.Hainan Resort 😭 TOO BIG, stupid campers on the hotel and poor infantry combat. 10.Lancang Dam 😠 C'mon, its bad in every mode, even tdm. Annoying LAVs and contant boredom. Ugh, I quit every time its the next map on the list.

propaganda would be fun if the armor had any sort of survivability on the US side. Ive played in rounds where the CN quint capped the US side and they have lines of sight directly into tank spawn. needless to say, i couldnt leave spawn at all. neither through A to the infy clusterfuck or to the village area where I have to cross no-mans land

I think I only ever have played on propaganda once. It was a spawn rape for my team and that’s before I knew how to control my weapons and that strafing around affects weapon spread

Prop does have the problem that if one team is dogshit awful that they can be trapped pretty quickly. It's one of those cases where servers that have hugely bloated ticket counts just draw this out.

I disagree with your rankings in terms of the maps i prefer to play on but you articulate your points well and since you refer to hard data and state your parameters, it is more difficult to argue with you. I didn't play anything past the Dragon's Teeth expansion and I'm excluding any comments on the Naval Strike DLC. I agree with you on Zavod (which is my favorite BF4 map), Propaganda and Golmud but I'd put in Paracel Storm and Hainan to round out my top 5.

I'd say golmud or silk road for my nr5, propaganda, guilin peaks, lumphini garden, pearl market I cannot stand zavod and Shanghai, specially in rush because they feel to linear and tanks dominate way to hard. There are also 0 good flanks when attacking on both those maps. My other issue with zavod is it's so grimy and cluttered with foliage that half the map is covered with campers with thermals on conquest. Shanghai issue is as is useless so good pilots are basically impossible to kill unless you are very good with free aim rockets or wait in the tower with them. It's pretty easy to kill the attack helis from the windows with the RPG or smaw.

Not sure about the order, but it's Guilin, Propaganda, Pearl Market, Locker, Outbreak for me. I think that Sunken Dragon would be better with Transports instead of Little Birds, but I'll still throw it in as an honorable mention.

propaganda is the most fun to play map in the game in my opinion. maybe it could be brought back with some balance tweaks in a future title? that'd be cool

Not all snipers are cowards. I use a six times scope and play very aggressive and capture lots of flags and always come on top of the leaderboard and get more kills than most other people.

Not necessarily the best, but ones that I have had a lot of memories in the past 8 years. Vanilla: Golmud, Paracel Storm, Siege of Shanghai, Zavod, and Dawnbreaker. Locker, Lancang Dam, and Rogue Transmission were alright but I hated Flood Zone and Hainan Resort. As for DLC: I loved the Second Assault DLC. I played a lot of BF3 back in the day so naturally I fell in love again with the maps. China Rising was disappointing except for Silk Roads. I played a lot of sniper only matches on there. Guilin peaks was fun but I never enjoyed the rotation. Naval Strike have overall very fun maps and was one of the last DLCs i managed to get. I went in thinking I wasn't going to like the naval warfare but Lost Islands has turned into one of my favorite maps. I loved the mix of patrolling in the attack boats, and fighting in the caves, jungles, and secluded little islands for those flags on conquest. Sadly, by the time I got Dragon's Teeth there weren't a whole lot of servers, but I did play Sunken Dragon a few times. Lastly, Final Stand had some of the most gorgeous maps with Hangar 21 and Giants of Karelia. Those were two of my favorites as well as Hammerhead. Wasn't a huge fan of Whiteout though.

Siege of Shanghai is obviously the best. The fact that people have outplayed it just goes to show how good of a map it is. It's also the only map where the levolution is cool to look at but still game changing.

I love Sunken Dragon and Wave Breaker. I feel like they are the 2 most underrated maps in Battlefield history. Pearl Market is the best map in BF4 though. It’s up there with Strike at Karkand as one of the best maps in battlefield history. thanks for including hangar 21. it is really underratet in my opinion. it's basicly 2 maps in 1. you have that big "outside" part of the map which is great for sniping and you have the "inside" part in the hangar

I agreed with most your list. I have to admit I hate the vehicle mechanics in BF4, so heavy vehicle focus maps I didnt care for. Especially since admins insist on instant vehicle respawn, breaking the game further. My top 5: 5-Paracel Storm 4-Flood Zone 3-Propoganda 2-Pearl Market 1-Zavod (Day or night)

Oh and as a player who plays almost exclusively Rush on PS4, my top 5 would be 5. Pearl Market 4. Siege of Shanghai (it's a shame they don't incorporate both levels of the destruction in rush) 3. Zavod 311 2. Dragon Valley 1. Hammerhead Of course these are nothing compared to Grand Bazaar and Damavand Peak, but hey. It is what it is!
