As an Airman I LOVE the marine corps. They always treat us with respect and are very down to earth great guys. When I had a chaplain appointment in tech school at fort lee (an army base). I asked a marine warrant officer for directions. He made phone calls and went out of his way to make sure I got to the appointment that i very much needed to attend. Other branches talk shit on each other, thats okay, I have just as much respect for the marine corps as anyone else. Regardless if you are an Airman like me, a marine, sailor soldier or coast guardsman, you are a brother or sister🇺🇸

I am a Poolie in the USMC and my ship date is 20120117 (Jan. 17th 2012).. My recruiter was helpful, no pressure, and I felt like he took care of me. I believe it is wise to be somewhat guarded when it comes to talking to recruiters, but I guarantee that 95% of Marine Recruiters will not give you inaccurate information. I came from a long line of Marines so I had heard every horror story from Boot Camp to the Fleet to EAS. I remember just sitting there as the Recruiter laid down all that bullshit...."yea man, you put the Blues on and panty's get wet for miles"...was about the only true thing he said. I went in a guaranteed 0311. My only fear was being made a Pog and never hearing the end of it from my relatives (all 03's and nobody ever rose above Corporal since the war of 1812....though some were promoted to Corporal more than once). Not much shit you can talk about an 0311 MOS. The entire Marine Corps is built around it. I couldn't do Recruiter Duty. It's basic aggressive sales. I could never work in Sales.

I am a Canadian Army MP Recruiter. I love seeing recruits completing the enrolment process and getting trained up/new opportunities. It can be life changing. It's definitely a calling. Not every soldier makes a good Recruiter. There has to be a definite passion for the job.

i know its not all good but some of these guys are actually helped by this. Had a buddy who was a drop out and on a path of destruction. drugs and stealing. never caught. during one of his stints clean he joined the army. before he had a chance to relapse he was overseas in Europe building and repairing jeeps and trucks. Left after 4 years as a mechanic. steady job. no drugs. and a skill set with a mentality that allows him to tackle his issues and perceive instead of just doing drugs.

The military does help with schooling most people that I see complaining can't do the schooling because of their jobs in the military. So they say oh he lied to me said I could go to school and I couldn't ... Or when they say they want to travel.. But can't exactly travel how they want to.. The smart thing to do is to research on your on and then go talk. That way you can have some knowledge of stuff and find people who just recent joined and finished their basic training your recruiter might not even know what basic is like or any questions you have for it but yeah I'm off my soapbox

I called the Marines in Rutland VT and I suffer from Major Depression. I called for information on the Marine Corps. I was forced to promise a recruiter that I'll never commit suicide. I was finally able to make my promise and after I promised this recruiter I wouldn't commit suicide this recruiter decided to judge me in a very intrusive disrespectful way. She decided to pick on me for still living with my grand parents, for being 29 years old with no car, for not having a life. She told me in her own rude way that I'm just a loser bum transient that needs to move up in the world. I'm here today asking you very nicely to please change your philosophy I have major depression and didn't need to be treated like that. I reported it and a thorough investigation came about and they said they handled it all appropriately. The judgemental recruiter doesn't work in VT anymore and I'm happy about that. So that recruiter is the Marine Corp to me and that just says the Marine Corps doesn't care about any damage caused by how they treat people who call them. I'm not a Marine. I was never at boot camp. Again I have major depression. They make people with major depression promise them to never commit suicide but then they judge the person after and it messes with their head. So what's wrong here? Do you recognize whose at risk or do you just pretend to care?

Thats just how some are sadly. Mine is a great guy and took care of me and still looks out for me and helps me whenever i need anything in the fleet. im going back on recruiters assistance here in a few weeks for the 3rd time. my best advice is go talk to the recruiter he may come off as an ass but if its going to get you to where you want which is in the military or even the marines like i am itll be worth it. Opens alot of doors and gets you where you need to be as a young adult in life.

A army recruiter called me a few weeks ago, real nice guy I told him my future plans he said "Well buddy if things don't work out give us a call" I believe that is the right approach to recruiting people.

I have major respect for any person in the military but I've first hand experienced that some marine recruiters are way to pushy. One called me, and requested to come visit me at school I pretty much told him I was interested, but he insisted, and came to school to talk to me. I talked to him at school we went through the whole drill really nice guy, But I told him my future plans of going to lineman school, and of course he said you can get certified to do that in the marine core.
