Did you "fall off" guitar? Also, 52 Week Guitar Player is CLOSED until mid-September. We just closed in June so now is a super early time to get on the waiting list . We'll only be accepting 100 new students (see related video "How Good is 52 Week Guitar Player Actually" for more info)

I intentionally quit 10 years ago and picked it up recently with lessons. Reason I quit was because I knew I didn't have the time to commit to something like guitar every day which is basically what it takes to get better and stay "good." I now have the time in my mid 30s after grad school, kids, career to play every damn day.

I think its okay to fall off and come back to guitar also, and i think not enough people mention that. Ive been playing guitar for a long time but i fell off and on and everytime i realized getting back into guitar is easier if i dont comapre myself to others, and just focus on where my skill gaps are and figuring out the best ways to consistently practice. My point is your hobbies aren't going anywhere if you take a break you can come back to it, and that's okay! I appreciate your general emphasis on practice and how to structure it, and the types of things to learn as someone playing again after a break 😊

The reason you got flamed for saying "guitar is not for everyone" is because your fanbase is full of people that don't understand that you can always not love guitar.

No, the reason is more like this guy assumes that everyone that plays guitar practices 3-4 hours a day trying to perfect their technique, the truth is that most people just casually play and don’t care about getting super good, so it always comes off as super gatekeepy and annoying that some dude keeps telling people that if they can’t name 5 famous guitar players or don’t think about it constantly then it’s not for them

@@simongosimon I agree with you , maybe he should actually cater that idea to his viewers because he’s trying to appeal to everyone. @DanteStahl-tr7fg
@DanteStahl-tr7fg 29 күн бұрын
Id argue that he has a valid point when it comes to not knowing x or y guitarists. Coz like, if you don’t know anyone good, then you’re not playing to sound good, ur just practicing off of internet stuff. Actually trying to see the techniques a guitarist employs is an important part of visual learning, and I remember that the only time he mentioned this was when he said “name 5 guitarists”, if you can’t do that, the only “guitarist” ur following is urself, n u aint a guitarist yet so…. tldr looking for inspiration is always good

Ever since I found Brandon's channel, I've regrown my interest in learning the guitar fully and especially getting myself a solid electric guitar to jam out songs and solos. I used to play the guitar back in both junior high and high school, but never since then. I recently turned 22 and despite not having the funds for a guitar now, once I do, I will get one and start learning from the ground up.

Ever since I’ve found Brandon’s channel, the initiative to make sure I stay on top of my playing has dramatically increased, I have a practice warm up routine that I’ve compiled along the way that’s unique to me as far as I know, my playing is definitely tighter and more relaxed and I’m happily in a band that allows me to be creative and able to implement whatever I learn along the way. I also get to play in front of an audience once every week. This all started literally this year whereas last year I was just playing along to songs I like. Thank you Brandon, I got off the cigarettes 🙏🏻🎸🎼🎶 lmao

Well Brandon, you are an excellent teacher and I appreciate your videos. In my case I did what was right, and best for my kids. Taking classes at night to further my education and career and spending free time with my kids, coaching and giving back to the community are not a waste of time. Guitar was waiting for me when my priorities were met. Back then we didn’t have so many video games but we did have lots of cigarettes. We also didn’t have KZbin so we could teach guitar classes to prevent us from working at “do you want fries with that.” We needed real skills to make big bucks in the corporate world. I agree, guitar is more fun. Carry on.

I've been playing guitar for a long ass time if you count day 1. The only reason I'm not even a decent player is that I don't practice enough. I play nylons and just noodle in my limited ass range. If I practiced properly, I should be able to at least hold a jam. My biggest regret is not putting in the work earlier. Shit stacks up when you get older. I'll never stop, but I likely won't ever be "good" at guitar because I have no real aspiration to be great at guitar. I think I rambled off there. Practice, it works.

The most important thing about guitar is that you should just keep it around all the time in your environment. Sometimes you will be in advance situation where it’s very intense and then other times you’re not. This is from an old guy talking. I have stopped playing and then picked it up many times. You’ve never forget it’s muscle memory. I can play songs from the 80s. It’s bizarre.

@@Kaz999998idk. I can't bring myself to agree at all as someone who's inspiration for even playing guitar to begin with somewhat stems from video games and their soundtracks. I quite literally would not be half the guitarist I am today if not for games like Sonic, undertale, Blazblue, guilty gear, Kingdom hearts, etc etc having such good music to inspire me to learn and what not. Sure there's some truth to what he's saying but he ALWAYS frames it as if playing video games is just objectively a complete waste of your time if you wanna improve as a guitarist, and I just can't bring myself to entirely agree with that kind of mentality.
