ajw... Johnson would have been better `kept` by Tories as leader. Truss could have been better guarded and steered by those in Power. She was destined for the exit, by invisible powers, as soon as elected! Instead of being thrown to the wolves, they should have bolted the door and got on with business. As it was the Tories trashed their own democratic procedure - beginning of the end of `trust` by their membership. Finally, we seem to `scream blue murder` today if anyone in authority even `sneezes` at the wrong time! A few years back we got up dusted ourselves down and got on with the job, whatever that was. The media feeds itself on `molehills into mountains` ideology and loves it! What a terrible world we live in that nothing is forgiven/forgotten.

@carelgoodheir692

@@jons9721 "Fair" includes the mean-minded getting represented in parliament. A proper modern parliament has all strands of thought in it. Then the MPs sound each other out and work out a program for government that a majority in parliament backs. What happens now is that two mega patries each have an internal power struggle the voters get no say in and then we, the voters, get faced with a choice of two neither of which has majority support. I say that from the Left and I accept that it and the Right will both splinter under PR - better than the exclusion of many that happens now.

So in order to deflect from problems that exist or they cause or even to get elected the Tories, and their press, use 7 simple tricks. Every single time you can boil it down to these. Here’s the list. 1. Misinformation, disinformation and lies. 2. What problem? (Pretend it doesn’t exist) 3. Blame others (your business is failing now, that’s a YOU problem) 4. We can’t do that because…(random excuse added in generic twaddle creator) 5. Smears (it would be worse under Labour) 6. They’re all the same (trying to generate apathy to reduce the vote and their likely defeat) 7. OOH! SHINY THING (Brexit here in the U.K.) They are awful, but worse than that, so f#*king predictable. I’ve spent the last few years studying them and they’re so simple, their tricks so lame and so lacking in creativity it’s hard to believe it works. I mean, they’ve won the last three elections on 7 alone. Now that they are desperate they’ll be pushing the other six desperately. Hopefully this will be the last time.

Allowing the climate crisis to continue unchecked would cost the UK economy hundreds of billions of pounds, according to estimates. Childs said: “As climate breakdown intensifies and weather extremes such as searing temperatures, floods and storms grow more volatile, our already strained NHS will see yet more demand on its services. The Reform party’s plans would cost the NHS dearly, not lessen pressure on it.”

I disagree, and I don't vote Reform. I'm a scientist in Earth Observation. Reform says why further damage our economy to shut down oil and gas, which we'll still need for a decade or two (pragmatics not utopia), when major climate polluters like India and especially China, are continuing with hydrocarbons. The UK is not even producing 1% of global emissions. If we are to stop, all should stop. If we stop, we don't make the climate much better, hardly at all. But we damage jobs and the economy.

Really need proportional representation for future General Elections, so whoever you choose to vote for where you live, it will count towards whether a representative is elected to Parliament. First past the post is no longer a suitable voting system, as it sustains the seesaw Tory/Labour Governments system we have had for too long. Neither Tories or Labour are in favour of changing to PR for understandable reasons that it would allow other parties the opportunity to progress.
