Judging by her stints in the Home Office then if Braverman becomes leader she won't even make until the next election so it'd be a brief spell as opposition, at most. Any Tory who has designs on being PM would be better letting someone else go in first, take a lot of flak and then look to build on that later.

They cant win being left wing, they need right wing policies and leadership. Their most successful leader was Thatcher, firmly right wing.

The issue is discipline. Instead of sticking together when things got tough, they ruthlessly replaced a leader who was elected by the membership and electorate with someone nobody wanted. How can you hold together a country when you can't even hold together your party? So why would anyone trust them again?

There is socially liberal and economically liberal. Labour was always high tax's and big spending. Traditionally Tory's were low tax's, fiscal responsibility, and small state. The interesting difference between the right wing of the party and the one nation group is one is socially liberal and the other is socially conservative. One nation think internationally and would be appalled about leaving the ECHR, worrying about the damage to our reputation. The right understand that to have any chance of controlling immigration we must leave and that putting the interests of Britain before international opinion is the priority.
