That's a WIN! You spent money making it your car and can track the hell out of it. I traded a F32 BMW for my Kona N and wish I did it sooner because all my time and money went towards keeping the BMW on the road instead of doing things I wanted to... and even then it wasn't track-capable.

It is generally illegal for a car manufacturer to completely void a warranty solely because of modifications made to a vehicle, thanks to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which requires them to prove that the modification directly caused the problem requiring repair before denying warranty coverage; meaning they can't simply deny a claim just because aftermarket parts are installed. The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act requires manufacturers to honor the original warranty unless they can prove that the aftermarket modification (either the parts or installation) was responsible for the failure that caused warranty repairs.

hey there i realy liked ur content . and i was thing to buy a normal kona and mod it into a rally car not a full on rally but as a daily driver x rally car so i have heard so many complains about oil rings and the awd system, so i wondered is it a good option? to buy a kona and is the engine reliable enough to handle rally . also wanted to know that can the engine and the awd system be upgraded to be more reliable than the factory ?
@CaliforniaKonaN9 ай бұрын
Oh, not too sure about the AWD Konas and any issues. By rally do you mean just having something that can hoon off road a bit? I know Ken Block had a video of them using the AWD Konas as test cars for some locations. But in regards to it being enough to rally I'm not too sure. TBH I would look at maybe a WRX or GR Corolla (if you can get at MSRP) just cause the nature of those platform have rally inspo already and might be easier to build for some rally shenanigans. But then again like I said not sure what the capabilities of the AWD Konas, and anything is possible to reinforce and build with the right amount of time and investment!

I enjoyed the overall vehicle history, the disclosure of the amount of money in Kona N, and the video. I really want a custom handle. It is unclear whether it will be shipped to Korea. In regards to the Carbon Style C-Pillar Cover is the carbon fiber pattern textured to the touch or is it smooth like glass? I want something for those windows but don't want to do the carbon fiber. If they are smooth I'm thinking I would just plasti-dip them.

A lot of the exterior mods I think were an overkill and a huge money sink , but that’s my opinion that spoiler mod looks nice but i don’t think I could ever put a drill near any painted surface on my car
@CaliforniaKonaN7 ай бұрын
To each their own! I think the exterior bits like the lip kit and wing for sure a big investment. The other pieces were just to have and are cheap / easy to remove. Def scary to drill but feel this wing extension is the best looking one on the market so far. The Maxton has a wing cap, but doesn't flow with the spoiler lines of the car!

How does the KN compare to a VN DCT?? In terms of fun. Are the closely similar or is it a significant difference between the two?
@CaliforniaKonaN Жыл бұрын
I haven't driven the VN but been around. I would say more comparable between them cause of the similar-ish wheelbase vs the Elantra N. The KN dif being taller for sure. In terms of fun I'm biased ha but I think the KN is fun but I would assume the VN would be just as fun but probably a little bit more nimbler as well as probably more aftermarket support since it's been out the longest.

The EN is actually a more updated platform (and then these parts are specific for the DCT vs a MT). If anything I feel the KN is closer to the VN in terms of parts, so I would double check as I feel because it's newer that the parts for the EN are specific to the EN itself. Probably because there aren't many driving spots in at least 1/4 of OH. Rarely see modified cars around my town and any time I spot another N they don't wave or anything. Im in northwest OH and the nearest place to tackle curvy roads is 1.5+hour away. Seen more cruising spots around San Antonio, TX. This area should be on a list of places to not R&D something. Its flat, curvy roads are few&far between, and the only place to do a spirited pull is on a highway littered with speed-traps.
