It's very sad how divided we are as a country in 2017.i reside in USA. I have been in this country for 15 years now. You want the hostilities between Igbo and Yoruba to end, but you amazingly went ahead to spread the same lies that started the hostilities. On the 1953 western region premiership election which was christened "carpet crossing" by Azikiwe and his kinsmen, the truth is in the archive. Don't be lazy, go there and dig it out. At the time, John Rankings was the British governor of western region and he supervised the election. Awolowo Akinloye, Azikiwe did not contest the election, their political parties (AG, IPP, NCNC) did. Awolowo was the leader of the AG, Akinloye was the leader of the IPP and Azikiwe was the leader of the NCNC. When the ballots were counted, none of the three political parties won the majority to form the first western region government. Two of the parties must merge in an alliance to form the government. After about a week of series of negotiations between Akinloye and Azikiwe, also between Akinloye and Awolowo, the leader of IPP decided to merge his party's votes with the AG. The alliance gave Awolowo the opportunity to become the first premier of the western region in 1954. The same scenario played out at the Federal level in 1959/1960 when none of the three major political parties (AG, NPC, NCNC) won the majority to form the Federal government. To have a winner, NPC led by Ahmadu Bello and the NCNC led by Nnamdi Azikiwe merged in an alliance and formed the Federal government of Nigeria. That was how a relatively unknown Tafawa Balewa became our prime minister and Nnamdi Azikiwe became the ceremonial president. Awolowo did not bribe anyone to cross carpet. There was no carpet to be crossed. Azikiwe left Ibadan in annoyance, he fabricated the his "carpet crossing" story on his arrival in Enugu. Surprisingly, his people believed such blatant falsity. To compensate Azikiwe for his loss in Ibadan, Eyo Ita, an Ibibio man who was waiting to be installed the East premier was chased out of Enugu. And so, Azikiwe became the first premier of the eastern region. This was the genesis of hostilities between Igbos and the Ibibios. Before he died, Sam Mbakwe went to Ibadan on a fact-finding mission about "carpet crossing". He met Adisa Akinloye the leader of the IPP party that formed an alliance with AG. Mr. Akinloye said he explained everything to Mr. Mbakwe. Mr. Mbakwe said he was satisfied with the truths in Mr. Akinloye's version of the issue. When you said that Awolowo promised Ojukwu /Igbos that the Yorubas will secede too, you have just put what Awolowo never said in his mouth. In his address to the Yoruba's leaders of thought in Ibadan few months before Ojukwu declared Biafra, Awolowo said to the gathering, "IF THE EAST IS ALLOWED TO GO, THE WEST WILL DECLARE INDEPENDENCE AND BECOME SOVEREIGN". Please read this capitalized quoted sentence above slowly 5 times. With your high IQ and prowess of the English language yet, you folks missed the mark here badly. Awolowo made a conditional statement. to his own people in Ibadan, not to Ojukwu, Achebe, Aribisala or any Igbo man or woman. Awolowo was addressing his own people at Ibadan. Awolowo said that if the Nigerian authority allows the East to go, he will pull his western region out of Nigeria and become independent. How in the world this became a promise to secede by Awolowo to Ojukwu? Was the East allowed to go after all? Awolowo led the last Federal delegation to meet with Ojukwu in Enugu to sue for peace. Awolowo went to Enugu with Sir Jereton Mariere and Dr. Samuel Aluko. There was never a time Awolowo met Ojukwu one on one. Even though Ojukwu requested for one on one meeting Awolowo never agreed to it. Both Mariere and Aluko confirmed that Awolowo did not meet Ojukwu privately. The Yoruba never slaughtered Igbos in Yoruba land but the Hausas have done that many times beginning from 1945. Azikiwe, Ojukwu Achebe, Ekwueme knew about the periodical slaughtering of Igbo in the North yet, they prefer working with the Hausas politically. Nna, before you and your biafratv put out videos, do serious research for the truth and feed viewers with nothing but facts instead just repeating the same old lies. Oduduwa is (Yoruba) and the Yorubas are Ijebu/Jebusites that means that the Yorubas are Ke anuanu elites / Canaanites The Housas are the Havites/Hivites, that means that the Housas are also Canaanites.
