In Europe the post war conditions were terrible, and even more so in Germany, so thousands of Germans who were released from POW camps decided to migrate to Argentina, a country with historical close ties with Germany. First by light plane to somewhere along the coast in Scandanavia where they boarded one of the last remaining U-boats to Cartegena Colombia. He was sighted by people over the course of a couple weeks in the small Colombian town of Tunja to the east of Medellin. They then travelled to southern Argentina probably by way of Paraguay which many NAZIs escaped to.
