The Townland Atlas of Ulster - Book Launch (05 December 2024, PRONI)

Ulster Historical Foundation held the book launch of Townland Atlas of Ulster at the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) on Thursday 05 December.
Speaking at the event was author Andrew Kane who discussed the book and highlighted how it can best be used as a research tool, and Joe Mahon, popular local television presenter and programme maker.

There is just as big a need for an atlas of the field names of Ulster. They seldom appear in documents and are rapidly being lost. Townland names originated from farms which in turn originated from fields.
