Dirtfish is doing the job what WRC promoter should be doing to promote rallying! Quite embarrasing for WRC, but well done Dirtfish! RESPECT Dirtfish should take over the promoter job! wink wink

What "people close to the Team" have leaked out about this vehicle is that it was considerably faster than the 2017 one. Better aero, suspenaion etc. Faster in corners and changing trajectory after coners etc.

Crazy they developed and built this car knowing it was only going to run for 1 season. Maybe some of that work carried over to the Rally1 car, but still that’s a serious investment

Hey, at the very least we got the Rally2 version now which if we're being honest is a far cooler thing since that car still uses a lot of components from the road car itself (i.e. the engine, turbo, and chassis of course). It's like seeing what is possible for the road version can actually go.

Wow I had no idea this car existed, it is really amazing to see the innovation from Toyota in this car. Maybe he was right that it was better that the regulations changed because I’m not certain the other teams could have competed with this car. Hopefully though this kind of innovation will inspire the other 2 teams and also push the design of all rally cars forward.

Why have we lost all the aero in the Rally1 cars? This 2017 spec machine looks like an absolute monster I understand that cost savings were a big goal of the new regs but surely it doesn’t cost too much to add a diffuser and the odd dive plane?
@ciello___83072 жыл бұрын
They still do have a smaller diffuser, but they cut down on the aero due to increased speeds and safety, and to make them closer to road cars instead of say, a GT car on steroids
@eska49352 жыл бұрын
@@ciello___8307 it’s pretty dumb honestly, basically they’re saying “we want to make our sport less exciting”

@@ciello___8307 closer to road cars yet they allow scaling and use of tubular frame which is completely different from road cars. WRC cars at least used body shell from the road cars. Rally 1 cars use purpose built racing chassis which makes them safer and allows scaling which is why M sport was able to use Puma as a rally1 car.

It Was a Shame the Road Going GR Yaris Had to Have a 3 Cylinder Engine if that WRC One there Had a 4 Cylinder in it ? I Still Do Not Understand How Toyota Thought it Was a Good idea to make the GR Yaris So Silent,When i Went to a Stage of WRC In Wales They had the GRMN there and i Ordered One and it Was a Lot Louder than The GR is ? Also Had a Centre Exit Exhaust Like the WRC Cars Yet the Car that Was Made to Take Part in WRC Made No Sound and Had 2 Exhausts and Looked No Better at the Back than a Suzuki Swift GTI ? Toyota Seem to Have Some Good Ideas And Then Loose interest in Finishing It How a True Rally Car Thinking Company Would of Done ,Like Subaru Did With There Road Cars in the Day.
@ciello___83072 жыл бұрын
they had to follow the WRC engine rules, its not all their fault
@AbrahamArthemius2 жыл бұрын
Maybe try to understand the regulations first? Every manufacturer that enters the top class in WRC has to abide by the regulations, and by regulations it means they are limited to only using 1.6L 4-cyl Turbo bespoke engines. You think the Puma Rally1 is using the same engine as the road car? Hell no. You wonder why Toyota built that 3cyl turbo? It's because it is designed for the Rally2 (previously called R5) class, which has more lax regulation in terms of how many cylinders you can have for your engine and you can have customers for your cars. (The Skoda Fabia is a famous example of it). The recently announced GR Yaris Rally2 practically uses the same engine you can find in the road car and it also kept most of the road car parts as well, so there's the bit that you complained about.. The Rally1 version can get the advantage of GR Yaris' silhouette being more aerodynamically efficient (compared to previous Gen), while the Rally2 version proved that all their work on the road going version (engine, body, etc) is proven to be rally ready.

Want another unicorn? Google 'Proton Putra WRC Car'. Developed by Prodrive but never rallied. Effectively a Mitsubishi Evo coupe built to WRC rules but before even Mitsubishi were building to WRC rules as they were still running the Lancer Evos under old Grp A regs. Probably why it never turned a wheel in anger. Couldn't have the lesser platform sharing Proton up staging Mitsubishi.
