I feel that Fifth Gear did their own formula and stuck to it. That is why lesser creative shows fall to obscurity. Top Gear went silly for 59 straight minutes with filler crap even with Clarkson, Hammond and May since the early noughties. The reason people hate TG now is because the punchline is coming from a different person. Still love all motoring shows though. That's how I justify my television licence. But on a track with longer straights that 300hp is going to make a difference, mass is less important once the cars in motion on straights.

As an owner, there are some minor things I do not like, but none related to the driving experience. For example, there are no parking sensors (only the camera) and with an ass as big as a Kardashian you need to be careful when parking. There is no light on the trunk (I installed some small battery powered lights) and some other minor things like that. But driving it is really fun and up to the hype

Also if you watch Tiff's old fifth gear video of the Evo 7, he said it had more brake fade than the WRX. Oofie.
@pursuitforspeed Жыл бұрын
People aren't complaining about brake fade, they're complaining about it having shagged brakes ie warped. What person would take their car to the track in a competitive setting and uses stuffed parts? "Heading to the track today to try and beat my PB. I've got plastic tyres and brakes that are warped like you wouldn't believe. Oh well, shouldn't matter, neither of those things are important". In other words. People don't want things to "be the same". They want the evo to be as close as it was to factory condition, not to be raced around a track with obviously degraded parts. Can't gauge progression if one car has degraded components and one doesn't - not accurately at least. It was flying lap of a short track to compare times - one lap to get things warm (like tyres etc) and one lap at full noise (the flying lap). On this particular track, I don't think brake fade would be an issue after one time attack lap.

How can I see a full episode or is this the new format? I love this more than ever, people actually reviewcars that can bloody drive
@GRfourfun2 жыл бұрын
If the Evo had better brakes, if the Evo had better tires, if the Evo was faster we’d all be slagging the GR off. Just appreciate the GR for what it is, a Yaris that beat an Evo.
@pursuitforspeed2 жыл бұрын
I don't think people are necessarily saying it would make the Evo faster (than the GR Yaris) around this particular circuit. I think it's more from a comparison stand point. It is a pretty bad comparison; using a car with stuffed brakes and old tyres. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that really.

Watch the original review in 2002 by Tiff.....he was complaining about the Evo brakes after three laps, they were always rubbish.
@pursuitforspeed Жыл бұрын
@@yanceyboyz I have an evo, I don't need to watch a 20 year old review to tell me the stock brakes aren't that good. That doesn't mean its suitable to go to the track with already warped ones. I wouldn't. What sane, rational person would take any car to the track with already ruined brakes ?
@Ramevo Жыл бұрын
You compare a old Evo 7 vs. a GR? Really? What about Evo 9 or Evo X? They are much faster!
@lkearney72992 жыл бұрын
For full balance in the test, I wonder if the EVO's suspension bushes, brakes etc. had recently been overhauled and has it been messed with over the years, like a hot air cone intake for example?
@relentlesspursuit68942 жыл бұрын
Yes, it has an uprated intercooler and intake

The fact the Toyota Yaris has a standard 5 YEAR WARRANTY which if serviced at Toyota can be extended to 10 YEARS is amazing plus you won’t get any boiling brake fluid and the Evo Mitsubishi was well known for blowing engines - Yaris all day for me. Had one for a year and they are brilliant- definitely have another 👍

Aesthetically, I prefer the GR as I've always preferred 2 doors... but I see where you are going with the question. EVO arguably has more street cred, a higher future value, and it's more practical.

The Evo's body rolls too much, maybe a brand new and stiffer suspension would cut half a second. Fit better tyres like Michelin PS cup 2 then perhaps it has a chance to beat the GR Yaris. I think the evo loses a lot of time in the corners.

Some people argue Group B rally cars would be faster than modern WRC cars. This video and the Cossie Escort vs modern Fiesta ST one show that the progress of technology makes all the difference.
