A letter was found in the vault at Mattel of a Mother complaining about this figure being the prize for the Buy 3 Get 1 giveaway back in 1983.

That guy only proved how it was distributed, not why it was made. Rewatch the video. Mattel never referred to the figure as a special edition on the order form. They even pointed this out to Barb in their response. The original order form apparently said that the consumer would receive a random figure. Why make a special figure for a mail-in promotion only to print that on the order form? Wouldn't they use the fact that it was a special version of the figure as a selling point, regardless of what accessories it came with? @@stevebragg4256 I'm just saying that there's no real evidence that the figure was originally made for this mail-in promotion. There's absolutely evidence that it was DISTRIBUTED this way, but as far as anyone really knows, it could've been made for some other purpose. It's probably a safe assumption that it WAS made just for this promotion, but unless some other piece of evidence surfaces, we'll never know for sure.

This wasn't for the giveaway the video shows that it was sent as an appeasement to people who wrote in to complain about the buy 3 get one free promotion. Mattel sent the figure with random weapons and no armor to those who complained. They just called it a special figure.

I heard that Mattel was doing the action figures for Conan The Barbarian & when they saw the final movie they pulled out because of all the sex scenes & violence. Then they gave the action figure blonde hair & called him He-Man

Any chance there was anything on the Galoob Star Trek The Next Generation action figures on the cutting room floor? Don't recall it being represented in the Trek episode like the Enterprise playset that was never released but advertised on the Galoob figure packaging.

Clearly Conan was a factor in creating MOTU. Thulsa Doom, in the original Howard stories from the 1930s, is a guy with a skull for a head. Maybe this was the Conanized He-Man.
