There may be serious debate about some areas of the Waypoint update, but there's one everyone can get behind - the trade rocket!
This little beauty swoops in and allows you to offload items from pretty much anywhere. The one question I have is simple. Is this the most profitable way to sell? Does it give us the same rate of return on all item types? Check out this video and all will be revealed.
No Man's Sky is an exploration survival game developed and published by Hello Games. Through the game's procedural generation system, planets have their own ecosystems with unique forms of flora and fauna, and various sentient alien species may engage the player in combat or trade within planetary systems.

Well, that's good to know as far as the system specific items, but that's one thing I never got into, so I'm still better off than I thought - my big deal is it is just convenient af! I love being able to just explore, gather all kinds of stuff, call in the rocket, and dump all the crap out of my inventory I don't want and sent it away. It's the ultimate portable garbage disposal that pays me! XD Although now, I can just do all of my sales on the fly thanks to this info.. great video! Thanks man!

It's worth it for the comedy. I shot off about about ten of them in a valley surrounded by mountainous canyon walls. The walls were too high, so none of the rockets could summit. They'd embed themselves in the wall, their pink rocket trail still glowing and smoking. Pretty soon I was running around trying to see if I could aim them. It was like playing darts with drunk homing pigeons.

Trading those white bachground items is a bit of a different ballgame if you play the way I do.I’ve scouted a bunch of three start economies, and made a list of them in such a way that they can be chained. So I’ll just teleport to station A, fill my ship with tradable goods, go to station B, sell all of it and buy whatever it is that B is producing. I’ll just continue my journey to staton C, D, E, F, G, H and so on while buying and selling at every stop. Teleportation is a marvelous invention, because it makes trading a lot faster. You’ll start with a small budget, so in the beginning you’ll just buy a few items. Pretty soon though, you’ll be cleaning the inventory of every station you visit. At that point it’s important to chain only three star economies, because after a few rounds of your trade circle, the planets begin to run out of stuff to sell.

Trade rocket is cool… Things I wish; 1) we could design things like; freighters, frigates, exocraft, starships, and space suits. 2) it’d be cool if we had to actually suit up for a specific planet. 3) let us use the analysis visor from within our exocraft. 4) bring back proximity chat. 5) wish there was a way to leave behind geo caches of goodies, like we can leave message modules… sort of like treasure. … things like Devices, materials, eggs, modules, Multitools??? Once the cache was found, it was deleted, or emptied and the current user had to replenish it. It’d be a cool way to leave our mark everywhere.

The first thing I did on my new Traveller for this update was buy the trade rocket plans in the Anomaly. Even if it gave less money, I'd still use it, because it just feels good to use, and lets me stay on a single planet travelling for a long time without any vehicles (flying dinosaur pet for travelling fast without technology)

I wonder which set of rules ancient bones and salvaged scrap follows. They are considered "trade commodities" but from what I can tell, they are not like trade goods (there's no system that wants or doesn't want them). But yet they are not materials like Indium.

They can be disposed of in a commerce trading post. There you introduce your ancient artifact or bone and they give you a more valuable one, although this is not always true.

I always use the trade rocket. I can sell 12 stacks of 9999 carbon for 120k each and the price never drops. Or I can dump 10 stacks of refined chlorine and I get 21m as opposed to much less if I sell at a shop.

The Buy and Sell modifiers only affect trade goods. Those affect the discount for local goods and bonus for desired goods. Trading posts give a bonus to the Buy and Sell modifiers, so local goods are cheaper and desired goods bring a higher price. Sounds like the trade rocket doesn't use the Sell modifier, so you get the base price.

I use the trade rocket for selling general items, and build a platform for it to land on at my base. I've lost count the times it falls over on landing and disappears into the mountains on take off 😄

I'm a little confused, in your breakdown list presented at 5:57, you list the trading post as the worst place to sell because you get the least amount of money, then you list the space station as #2. But then literally a few seconds later you say "selling anything at a space station terminal is the worst possible choice no matter what your selling." But you literally just showed that the space station is better for the test items you sold? What did you mean by that last claim that space stations are the worst way to sell?

One thing you didn't mention is selling to ships at trading post. I sell a lot of fusion ignitors and stasis devices, the rocket sells them for 15mil but I never sell to a pilot for less than 16mil so you lose the right to set your minimum price.

You should have tried testing in the opposite order. The amount they will pay for your goods automatically increases over time. If you used the rocket last, then more time passed and therefore they will pay you more money.

not sure about rates, but what I know is selling to NPC's don't influence market demands so we won't have to worry about over-selling something to them and have that item's demand in that system to drop so low it'll actually be priced at 0 next time.

I would go for Outlaw systems and attack freighters for their blackmarket items to sell back in a regular system. Highly profitable! 👍😁

Yeah smuggling is hella-fun, and they actually made it really worth it now. So far as farms - I used to make oxygen farms to make like chlorine generation for some easy big bucks here and there - well now, you can make more money just selling the oxygen. lol - looks like we'll have to go through and find out what's worth anything anymore. I think they've tried to make it so people that like to craft are actually getting something for their time. Crafted, and especially complex crafted items are now buku-bucks better.

I don't think the rocket can be stored in inventory, it's like the pet: you just summon it.

@@misterasterisco5217 it's a technology you craft and install in your exosuit, so you could put it in a supercharged slot. But I doubt that has any effect, let alone an effect worth sacrificing the potential to supercharge something like Hazard Protection or some other vital tech.

So the "beaker" icon in the game reads as "Research" economy, but the handy list you made, says "Science". Anyway, science would actually be a better name to me. But I took a screenshot of the list because I'm planning to sell some crap my settlement generates and frigates bring in. I thought it would be fun to load the hauler up and start finding the optimal economies to sell stuff.

yes! that's why I mentioned using the icon rather than the names because one economy can go by four or five different names.👍 happy trading! because the video wasn't really about trading per se, I did veer off course a bit. One thing to look when picking out systems to sell in, is their "sell" percentage on the galaxy map. you'll have to expand the view of the system, but the higher the better there.
