this is a great guide! if you want to make things super simple buy a hauler type ship, add as much cargo space as possible and nothing else. no upgrades since you wont be flying it anywhere. use it like a mobile secondary trade-only inventory. when you get to a station or outpost switch from your regular ship to the hauler and then buy and sell the trade good directly out of the haulers inventory. you can see what's selling and what's not all in one place. once you are done with the trade goods just switch back to your regular ship. once you have invested in this it becomes a constant flow of cash at every station or trade post you go to. 07

Man, I have been ignoring those trade goods until I saw this video. This is a great way to stack units after you make your first few million. If you buy the goods from a trading post and then the space stations and then sell at a corresponding system's trading post you can flip in the tens of millions in one trip in buy/sell min/max situations. I recommend ensuring your hyperdrive is tricked out with modules because you will burn through warp fuel a lot on your trade routes. Upgraded hyperdrives mean you can expand your routes and save fuel at the same time. This is a lot more fun than farming for chlorine. Thank you for this!

Oh dude. I love that you did this, but you totally missed the trade routes. There are 2 patterns to the buy/sell rotation for normal trade routes. I'll use the colors cause I don't remember all the names. Orange>yellow>cyan>orange It loops. The other 4 make up the second route. Afterthought. There is one trade item that has a use outside trading, Star Silk. It's used for every chair, couch and bed in building.

On my first trading attempt after 50 hours in the game I lost 1,5 mil. Cause the space station doesn't buy close to the price it sells. Instead its buy price is like half of the sell price. After seeing your excellent video I saw how many mistakes I made. I will folow your advice to make some money cause I am really broke right now.

What about shooting off cargo pods in outlaw systems? I read that those drop illegal goods that you can sell off. Wouldn't even have to pay for them. Since it's an outlaw system, sentinels don't come to defend. If you just attack the pods on the main freighter, reputation isn't even lost. The free floating pods cause reputation loss though. But I also read that the lost reputation doesn't matter as long as you've maxed it out beforehand. They will still offer the top tier missions of the ranks you have unlocked. Haven't had time to test this out myself though. It sounds like it would be the way to go to make some money via trading.

If you buy 1 of item A at 100 units with 20% discount, and resell for 20% increase you make 40 units profit. If you buy 1 of item B at 200 units with 15% discount and resell for 15% increase you make 60 units profit.

The whole economy should be revised. There could be so much more interactive and fun. Now you can go to a sentinel planet, fix ship, scrap, boom, you're rich. Takes the life out of the game.

This makes a lot more sense now but what do I do with materials I haven't strictly bought from a trading post? such as from derelict freighters or just random looting within the system. Does the same principle apply? For instance, if I have looted a derelict freighter that was in an orange system, is it still best for me to go to a trading post in an yellow system to sell?

The system color but/sell chart only applies to trade goods - those goods that are in trading terminals listed first.

The nip nip is probably bugged. Nms has had a ton of display bugs so it might be that or the buy and sell price are reversed and the trading post and space station are probably reveresed as well

@@Decimus92 Definettly Not. Just Doing the Expedition and was used to my custom game mode (basically normal, without grinding recipes and resources. The grind is a chore tbh, a filler nothing else. Will immediately change back after finishing it. I have also every glyph or blueprint that you literally also need to grind out free too. A blisss as a full time working mid 40s boomer. 😘 I started on creative mode and customized everything to normal because i enjoy hostile environments creatures and space battles/anbushes. So just all the benefits without time consuming negatives. I play to explore and hunt tech/ships, do dogfights etc. my wife enjoys basebuilding and exploring so far. Like 300h into NMS so far and we are both addicted

@@irfkaptan I’m glad to hear that. To each there own. I enjoy the grind to an extent and it keeps me interested and coming back for more. Once I’m better at the game I’ll make a harder custom game. But again I’m glad you’re enjoying it and you’re way further along and knowledgeable at the game then I am. I’ve just been playing games most my life (mid 30’s) and I know when I’m handed everything I lose interest quickly.
