The whole Australian Rugby experience the past 18 months has been a circus. Let me be clearer, a circus that has lions with no teeth, a tent with no support beams and a string of ringmasters without an idea of how to run it. I do look and see a lot of potential player wise, but financially, wow we are in dire straights

Absolute fu@#ing disastrous 10 months - which has set Australian rugby back several years at least. He is a toxic has-been, who has never won a RWC as a head coach, and never will. The most he can hope for now is to see Japan win a test against the likes of Italy or a similarly-ranked team.

The problem is with RA not the coaches .Didn't a previously fired RA coach get Argentina to the knock out rounds ??? RA has a wealth of talent compared Argentina.

@@iangillougley5483 I agree there's definitely massive issues with RA - which were worse in 2023 and which led to EJ being hired. Then to compound that even further, EJ has massive issues of his own ... So it was all a complete sh!t-storm.

Australia nearly beat Ireland in 2022... that's mental. If they stuck with rennie they would've had a good wc. That squad.... sweet jesus what was he thinking. I can't help but think this - if foley hadn't milked that penalty against the abs in 2022s RC and lost the game then oz would've beaten the all blacks giving rennie enough respect clout to stay on, he NEEDED that win as a coach. It's like that single whistle had a ripple effect across RA for the next 2 years. Its sickening because australia played brilliant that game but foley fucked around - after many warnings from raynal - at the worst possible time.

What was the goose in charge of rugby Australia thinking? Now he has had to fall on his sword. I think Australian rugby has a better look about it now. They have to be patient, and get some money down to grass roots level. Losing the Victorian franchise won't be a bad thing. It will lift the remaining 4 Super sides. Talent will be there, just find it and nurture it. If they treat Joe Schmidt like Rennie and Deans, then it will be a crash and burn. Under Dave Rennie the Wallabies would have made the Q-finals, perhaps even the S-finals.

Thats the trouble with being a BS artist: eventually you wind up in a corner you can't BS your way out of. EJ totally bought his own hype, and thought he could mount a successful World Cup campaign with a bunch of kids and a few cast-off Rugby League assistants. His disrespectful past comments regarding every other major rugby nation meant his appearance at RWC 2023 was roundly and unceasingly booed, and the utter collapse of the Wallabies form coinciding with his arrival made him the laughing stock of the tournament. His accomplishments with Japan (the first time around) will always be remembered, but the absolute ruination he left behind at both England and Australia, and the snide arrogance that accompanied both should not be easily forgiven.

I think Joe Schmidt has made a huge mistake. He will be shafted as Deans & Renee were. How did the Wallabies go for champs to chumps in 20yrs, how many coaches have RA sacked since 2003 for no change? The problem is RA not the coaches

Some of it is RAs fault but at the end of the day. The reason Aus was good on the 90s is because they had the advantage of knowing how professionalism in Rugby should work since league had been semi professional for decades at that point. It took the rest of the world time to adjust and then surpass Aus. Especially as Union and League have become more an more distinct from one another

This is the 1st time since we went professional RA has actioned the divide between them, the states and grass roots. O'Neil focused only on the Wallabies leaving coaches and players to rot. That plan hasnt wavered until we hope, now. Being a Wallaby supporter hasn't been great.

So gutted for my Aussie brethren. It’s been such a tough like 10 years it feels like eh? This is such a kick in the teeth and I hope that now Joe Schmidt is there, not only does the wallabies pick up, but hopefully RA gets some of itself together. As a Scot, I’m fully empathetic to when both the team and the Union are a bit crap for a long time 😂

Eddie Gone-s really sabotaged AU rugby by picking a squad from the weakest teams ever from Perth and Melbourne predominantly instead of the experienced veterans and more Reds and Brums players. At this point he's about to go pass his use-by date as a coach with that snobby ego.

I'm guessing Eddie's ego got the better of him taking the Aus job - his ditching of Hooper and Cooper for the World Cup supports that in my view. Even I know you start a new player cycle after a World Cup....not during it! I reckon he thought...Aus has an easy (on paper) group, a sporting chance in a quarter final and getting to the semis would be seen as success and he'd have done it "his way". His slinking off to Japan for a last pay day having been economical with the truth and confrontational when asked about it just sums him up for me. As a Scottish rugby fan who lived in Aus for a a couple of years I wish the Wallabies all the best - I think Joe Schmidt will pull you around.

He ditched Hooper and Cooper because? Both are washed up and have a history of losing. Hooper gets ragdolled around the park and Cooper is too indecisive. It’s a 3 year plan with youth and you must stick to it

I think Australia probably make it out of the pools if Tupou and Skelton don't get injured. Jones' style was so clearly dependent on having some massive units punch holes in the defence, and without them (and also all the other tighthead props/locks that got injured seriously it was mad) there just wasnt the brute force. I do also believe he was correct to resign after the world cup: going out in the pools is embarrassing and is justification to be sacked/resign on its own, nevermind the other garbage results

Perhaps the blame should be laid at the feet of "Australian rugby union". They were the ones who employed Eddie - for his background and experience. Personally, I cannot stand the bloke - but then then again I am a Welshman - and he has never slagged the Welsh off lol

Appointing Jones was the cherry on top of the decades long disaster that has been RA's management of the code. One can only hope we've hit rock bottom, the new management repair relations with everyone, since they pretty much pissed off the entire world with this debacle, and we see Joe given the support he needs to rebuild Australian rugby.

He's Eddie Jones, he probably gets "wana come and work for us?" emails every day. Does that meay he did an actual interview? Or just had a "hi, thanks for the offer" chat. Remember, our dependant media needs eyes and ears for advertising. And the above is no story without some spin. And when Rugby Australia moved his goal posts, ofcourse he left. Just like anyone who has a shitty work place... ...and some spine.

Eddie Jones hasn't had a strategy since the 2019 World Cup Final. He's been clutching at straws ever since that loss - because he genuinely believed England would win. His subsequent efforts with England, then the Wallabies just got more and more weird. I pity Japan.

Eddie Jones did nearly the same to QLD churning through players trying to find his rough diamonds that werent there. The only good he did was to force change in the ARU to address the rot between states. The way he did it was to wreak wallaby fans world cup, a disaster!

Cooked, along with his Goose! Eddie owed it to the Wallabies to see out his tenure, in order to make his strategies work, because nobody else would be able to, he has a different crystal ball, but to cut and run after implementing whatever it was he was trying to implement, shows he had no courage in his convictions, Japan must be desperate 😊

Rennie's close losses shouldn't be seen as ''progress'', they should be seen as more failures. Even when the Wallabies were winning games they were stumbling their way to victory, and that Welsh game is a great example of that (being down by like 20 points at half time then taking the lead, then throwing the ball away with 40 seconds to go and almost losing everything) 😬 I'm tired of hearing ''we're moving in the right direction'' after underperforming....or ''we're building as a team'' (been building for the last 15 years 🐋) Eddie didn't even try, In fact I think he deliberately sabotaged Australia if anything. Senile old man who just doesn't give an F about results or legacy and didn't even want to be there. Shambles.

was the worst decision ever....was flabbergasted that he was appointed....dave rennie had them sooo close to a big turn around....losses sure but progression. All that happened was the opposite with the appointment. There are no magic wands....Just created confusion and interrupted and disorientated a team on the rebuild. He then just dismantled the good work already achieved by Rennie. No disrespect to what Eddie has achieved...but the rugby world just looks forward to Australian Rugby getting of its High horse and showing more respect to not only the fan base...but all that play the game across the ditch...come on ARU ...cant wait for you to get it back on track...Bring back Campo,Horan,Ella...goddam so many great players over the years.Cheers Mikey.

Part of me thinks Eddie did this on purpose to make Steve Borthwick look good. It worked pretty well. Steve got England to 3rd place without ever threatening to play any actual Rugby, is picking in form players in positions that suit them, generally states the boringly obvious instead of utter nonsense and seems to value each match not just the World Cup.

he was in for himself because he knew n opening up for Japan job before joining the Wallabies 2023. Not every Aussie sees him a saviour - most were wondering including myself surely he is not going to do it again. It was cruel sacking Rennie - he was doing well with the crops he got given and building up well. Jones did it for himself to be sacked from the wallabies 2003. he did again when came back and coached Queensland Reds 2007 , he did it again 2023 for the wallabies, again! He definitely was good in leaving rugby in Australia in dis-array. His records overseas might be good but definitely at home Not so good! He was lucky to inherit good team in the Brumbies and Wallabies after Rod Macqueen! But ended up racking them.

He admires the Boks more than any team in the world, probably because they don’t whine like the All Blacks. As a Saffa, I appreciate Eddie’s contribution.
