There is no tragedy. He rescued dogs, was a good dad, and had an intellect like few others. Watch his Buckley debates.

The last member of "The Magnificent 7" is gone. One of his best lines in the film was when he discovered that running from his problems was getting him nowhere, he said: "The ultimate, supreme idiocy. A deserter, hiding out in the middle of a battlefield". RIP Mr.Vaughn.

His autobiography his a fantastic read. He moved from New York to Hollywood with his mother who had radio experience. He found work in a Natalie Wood movie and she became a girlfriend, who let him drive her pink 1958 T-bird. After UNCLE he was in a movie in Czechoslovakia when the Soviet Union invaded and Robert and the movie crew were confined to their hotel for two weeks until the embassy got him out. In Brazil he was kidnapped by a crooked police captain who wanted $500,000 ransom. Robert said the guy had no ideal how much money that was. This policeman allowed Robert to return to his hotel where he called his agent in New York and Robert said the CIA got involved and took care of the police captain. And there was a time when he was in his agents office who offered him a movie part in Mexico City. He took the part and as he left the building he tripped over a curb and broke a bone in his ankle. He saw his doctor who set the bone and cleaned and wrapped it. Robert told him about making a movie in Mexico City and the Doctor gave him the name and address of a doctor there. Robert was told to clean and wrap the ankle by the doctor every 4 days but the doctor was a phony and infection set in. Like I said read the book, it's great.

Ok, so I have to ask: What was so "tragic" in his passing? The author of this video mentions it literally in a few closing seconds, that he died of leukemia, like countless thousands others. This is a common cause of death.

RIP. Robert. I wish you'd been in "The West Wing" (or "Law& Order") as a regular character. I might've watched them more often. I enjoyed him best as Napoleon Solo. Great in movies and other tv shows as well. Saw him in "Hustle", but never saw him in "The Protectors" or "Nanny".

Interestingly that he served in the military during the 1950's but was a staunch anti Vietnam War campaigner.

Does this site ever address a person that did not 'tragic ending'. His career had its peaks and valleys, and even admitted to doing at least 1 project for the money. His professional life was varied, and found personal happiness at a point, from different things I have seen. He'll forever be a question on trivial pursuit, @ minimum. A more interesting life.

I'm binge watching The Man From UNCLE now. The third season was not campy. The scripts were awful. They must have had a change in writers as the first half of the season was normal good quality. But the last half got episodes that were talky, schmaltzy, and with little action. It's a snore. I'm still painfully plowing through it. The second season was totally campy and it was the best year of the series.
