@@mrvasa8426 They changed his mentality in his early life on Nostramo, originally Konrad was cold and calculated murdering and torturing because that is what was needed to bring the population to heel and in line with his vision of a better Nostramo. With his primarch novel they changed him to be a murderer and torture because he enjoyed it and gained pleasure from the acts. They wrote him to now hide the fact that he enjoyed violence and brutality behind the reasoning of that being the only way to get this world's population in line. This simply is NOT who Konrad was and for me it really changes the character into just a mindless murderer for the sake of murdering and torturing. That's not Konrad, that's not the character he was nor should be. Very impressive how like Corax you went for a far deeper, richer voice than the high pitch others would have, and it's *impressive* how there's power, fright, even a genuine cackle that the voice actor should be proud of. it's an ugly, imposing voice to begin, and shifts throughout reflecting how Curze wasted away as his purpose waned.

In the night lords trilogy, Talos breaks rank as the sight of the assassin carrying Konrad’s head makes him rage. The main theory about his survival control from his soul possibly being captured inside the nostramon crown he wore, it is theorised to be an Eldar spirit stone.

Such a tragic character, he embraced the role he was given loyally. The necessary evil that the Great Crusade demanded of the Nightstalker legion. He drove himself to madness until he had nothing in himself but was filled with guilt, voices and hatred.
@AliveRumble0822 жыл бұрын
Personally I don’t think they needed this necessary evil. Yeah, their legion scared some worlds, but they never took part in campaigns that mattered. Not like the dark angels or the iron warriors. I think he was deluding himself even back when his legion first started to fight in the crusade.
@theyankeesamurai232 жыл бұрын
@@AliveRumble082 But that's the tragic part I think, the campaigns themselves didn't matter but the terror and reputation that was spread by the Nightstalker Legion was enough for other worlds to capitulate. Curze did his task loyally and was shunned by all for it. It's really tragic.
@my8thaccount2362 жыл бұрын
@@theyankeesamurai23 The story of Konrad is a story about what happens when someone subconsciously chooses to be a slave to a fate they despise. That’s about as tragic as you can possibly get. Also for future reference the legion is called the Night Lords, not Nightstalkers. Although Nightstalkers is a name that I personally like. It fits them like a glove.

@AliveRumble0822 жыл бұрын
@@theyankeesamurai23 I think a big issue I had with that. We basically just go by their word that the reputation was enough. They don’t actually paint a lot of situations where the enemy has a lot of resolve against the imperium. I don’t actually recall any notable worlds even mentioned their tactics were used on.

I think you are now the best lore channel. with the production and quality of a LT09 video but with the amazing addition of A Vox in the Voids voice acting, these videos are perfect. congrats, you deserve all the sucess coming your way.
@dornfist39132 жыл бұрын
Once again, another great video Amber King! That last dialogue between father and son, imagined or not, always moved me and your voice cast including Vox in the Void did a phenomenal job! Shout out to all of them who do the Emperor's work. Or Curze's work if that makes more sense haha. But really that scene between Curze and the Emperor performed by your amazing VAs brought tears to my eyes. One of the good things that came out of the Heresy series for me was leaning about Curze and his legion. I barely knew anything about them prior to the Heresy series aside from their colour scheme and that Curze was killed by a callidus assassin. But oh boy, even though I'am a loyalist at heart, I find Curze to be quite a complex character and perhaps alongside Angron, the primarch who had the most reason to rebel aside from being a looney. The Curze primarch book is definitely one of my tops of the primarch series mostly due to that powerful ending. The "Emperor" makes a good point: Curze never sought to change his own fate and that is what condemned him. I do believe he could have been redeemed by his father if they had both met one last time. If only Curze had known love growing up on Nostramo, he could have been a proper arbiter of justice. Al things considered, Curze has a happier ending than anybody else still alive in 40k. On a side note, we 40k fans need a sitcom featuring Curze and Fulgrim please lol.

@@jw7500 Yeah, he was genuinely nice and caring to people of Barbarus and the OG Death Guard loved him so much that they followed his orders and hate Typhus despite worshipping Chaos. The best Mortarion moment in the Heresy was when Magnus said that he forgave Morty, and the Death Lord was so surprised at this that his spirit was lifted and believed the cause. Although Magny Magic tricked him, it was a legit heartwarming moment. This guy got a thing about getting tricked by Spykers all the time, no wonder he hates them.

The quote from Terry Pratchett's Hogfather means something different than what is pictured here. It's within a dialogue about why belief in things and concepts are important - when Death says "... and yet you act like there is some ... some rightness in the universe" etcetera, he doesn't mean that it doesn't exist, he points out that even though you can't really materially show bigger concepts like duty, honour and mercy, you still act as *if* it's real - and therefore, you *make* it real. Susan answers "Yes, but people have got to believe that, or what's the point-" to which Death answers "MY POINT EXACTLY."

Phenomenal video as always, and this helped me contextualize why I like the night lords so much (favorite traitor legion at least), despite their...tendencies. The big struggle konrad had was essentially the seeming inevitably of his environment corrupting him. No family, no connection, no hope twisted him into something dark. There was no mentor to temper the things he learned from those he killed. Manifesting in a fatalist mindset not unlike that old adage of, "Why should I apologize for being a monster, no one apologized for making me this way.". Yet like so many people (myself included), he frequently attempts rectify this cognitive dissonance by wrapping up his poor behavior behind justifications. Cause at the end of the day he'd break were he ever to realize that his monstrous nature formed by his environment was not an inevitability or an unfortunate necessity. Rather, it was a dark part of himself that enjoyed what he did that he simply cannot accept, much in the way most people cannot accept the worst in themselves. Yet, because he never acknowledged this on some level it always controlled his actions and mindset. Instead of realizing the immorality or folly of his actions, he consistently doubled down until the end. Which is what makes his story ultimately tragic, maybe he could have been better but I doubt he could have ever been the angel. Not without learning to try despite the odds and embrace hope for a better future.

From this video alone, Konrad Curze has become my favorite primarch. I originally thought Conrad was nothing more than an edgelord. This video showed me otherwise. Konrad seems to embody the the Greek tragic self-fulfilling prophecy, which is my favorite thematic trope. Yet at the same time, Konrad is also an inverse of it. Oedipus’ father actively tried to fight the prophecy of his fate, and in so doing, ended up bringing it about. But Konrad’s nihilistic acceptance of his “prophesied fate”, instead of fighting against it from the start, was the very thing that brought it about. A sobering and melancholic tale. Thank you for one of the greatest presentations I’ve ever seen on KZbin. One favor: what is the song that played at the final portion and outro of the video?
