KFC was delicious in the 1960's and 70's. Somewhere along the line, the flavor, texture, and overall quality of KFC went straight to hell. His story is FAR from tragic, he's a damn inspiration. The guy was the Teddy Roosevelt for fast food, and wasn't shy about letting people know how they proceeded to completely fuck his recipes up after KFC was franchised, they tried to sue him, failed, and had to pay him to shut up. Colonel Sanders was the man, and it's a damn shame I'll never get to have the TRUE original recipe. If they can make a movie about that snake Ray Kroc, they can surely do a badass Colonel Sanders movie. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

You can still buy the secret 11 herbs and spices mixutre, online, it's called Formula 99X. The Colonel got another spice company to make his mix, before he died. Just use 99X, some peanut oil, and presuure fry your chicken, after soaking it in buttermilk, and you've got the original KFC. 🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗👍😎👌🍗🍗🍗🍗🍗***Oh yeah, it's better if use high gluten flour.👌 ***Oh don't forget to add salt to 99X, it's just the spices.

@ArmandoDy6 жыл бұрын
The story behind it is: after Col. Sanders sold KFC, he wasn't happy with what they did to his original recipe chicken. He had Marion-Kay Spices mix up his original recipe, and then he started recommending to franchise owners that they use the Marion-Kay Spice mix instead of the KFC corporate spice mix. Quite a few of the franchise owners did; about 200 of them during the '60s and '70s, until KFC corporate sued Marion-Kay Spices in the early '80s, just after Col. Sanders died, thus blocking them from selling their spice mix to KFC franchises. ***Taken from a Chowhound article.

@@ArmandoDy LOL! Really, and exactly what law/statute was enforced to forbid anyone from selling spices to another person in this country?? This left out a lot of information about the Col. The main one is that he invented the machine that made his chicken cook the way it did and sold that to other restaurants across America with the help of a very energetic young salesman named Dave Thomas who went on to found the Wendy's Hamburger chain. Also, his wife Claudia had a dinner house here in Bowling Green, KY that was very successful and there is a landmark showing where it used to be. Sanders has a very interesting Success story that people should learn about. This video makes it seem he was a failure and he was anything but that.

He became rich and lived to be 90. He always spoke truth regarding the direction of KFC and expressed his displeasure of certain directions they went but the guy had a good very good life. I love KFC just because of its founder, Mr. Colonel Sanders. May your soul rest in eternal peace!
@roninnder6 жыл бұрын
He sold the company and died wealthy. I won’t cry any tears on his part. He wasn’t even really a colonel, so he could have recovered his identity by going by Harland and not wearing a white suit, for christ’s sake. He sold that cartoonish identity along with KFC.
@warellis6 жыл бұрын
He was a Kentucky Colonel. A reward title given to him by the Kentucky governor. It was never a military rank.

Man, I love KFC even with the altered recipe...I can only dream about what the original tasted like.
@grumpyguy1124 жыл бұрын
The recipe wrnt downhill because it no longer has 11 herbs & spices then the trans fat wad replaced with vegetable oil taking the crunch out of the skin reducing the chicken to what it is now. Its typical quantity over quality. Quite honestly im happy waiting 35 minutes for good chicken but not 6 minutes for trash.

For a video about Col Saunders you somehow forgot to mention the part where he moved to Canada in the late 60’s where he spent the rest of his life. He also held onto ownership of the Canadian restaurants. This is all on Wikipedia Amateurs

Colonel Sanders retired in a small town called Cooksville in Toronto Township, Ontario, Canada. In the early 1970s the township and all the small towns in it amalgamated to form a new city called Mississauga. One of those small towns was Malton, home of the Avro Arrow legendary aircraft and the Malton Airport. That airport is now known as the huge Toronto International Airport, even though it is actually located in the large City of Mississauga which is on the western border of Toronto. Nowadays, Toronto in Canada, is the fourth largest city in North America, after Mexico City, New York, and Los Angeles.

I actually met Col. Sanders when I was a kid in the early '70s. They filmed a KFC commercial about 2 blocks away from house in a small public park in a small town in Missouri (population 1,000). Actually, almost everyone in town met Col. Sanders that day. The whole town turned out to watch the commercial as it was filmed. ;-)

If I were a military vet I would be offended at someone like him calling himself "colonel" when he never served in the military. It's like someone getting an honorary Doctorate degree for giving a college a donation and calling themselves "Doctor" the rest of their lives.

I wouldn't call his life "tragic". He had his struggles. challenges and obstacles to overcome just like everybody else on the planet, but he was persistent . He never gave up and kept on trying. That falls under the category of a "successful" life outcome in my book. Persistence is key.
