Brownstone’s 1995 debut album went platinum and the group was even nominated for a Grammy award. Sadly, the trio only released two studio albums and they haven’t been seen on the music charts since 1997. This is a story of internal conflicts, line-up changes, and an untimely passing.

The Brownstone story is proof that you need more than talent if you want longevity in the music business. They were truly talented and gifted vocalist. Maxee’s death NEVER sat right with me. Even listening to this woman try to explain it sounds ridiculous on its face. I will always think something fishy happened there, but that’s in Gods hands now. You just don’t hear this kind of Real singing anymore and that’s really sad for not just the industry, but for us the listeners🥰

Wow!. I wondered about them. I still have their debut album “From The Bottom Up,” that’s still their best. I was always feelin’ Nicci out of the three original members. Their name was cool. Brown is the earth & Stone is solid. “Grapevine” is still my favorite song. Mimi Maxee & Nicci, I commend u. Thanks for the time.✌🏿

I don’t remember Nicci being on there, but maybe you’re thinking about the episode with Millie Jackson? I always thought they favored each other. That was the episode where they sang “Pass the Peas”!

From watching Nicci Gilbert on television on the show I seen how she really acted, because you aren't supposed to bully other females around like she did.. Maybe if her attitude wasn't so horrible Brownstone would have been a phenomenal success but rest well Queen Maxee.. Could you please do a story about the circumstances surrounding the Shalam including Jody Whatley because that would be a great watch, please..

I have always been a Brownstone fan. It wasn't until later in years that I learned that they recorded under Michael Jackson record label. I am glad he included publishing rights to them, because that is really where the money is. As always my friend, I love your videos, keep them coming. First name Roger & my last name is Cook. 6/7/2021.
