Michael Imperioli's maternal grandfather, Alberto Luzzi, was born in New York City in June, 1914. Alberto had a difficult childhood due to the early passing of his father, Michael's great grandfather, who died in an accident cleaning trains for the transit system. Michael's great grandfather grew up in Calabria, Italy, before moving to America after getting married.
Michael Imperioli is best known for his starring role as Christopher Moltisanti in the acclaimed iconic HBO TV series THE SOPRANOS, which earned him a Best Supporting Actor Emmy Award. He also wrote 5 episodes of the show and was co-screenwriter of the film SUMMER OF SAM, directed by Spike Lee. Imperioli has appeared in six of Lee’s films and has also acted in films by Martin Scorsese, Abel Ferrara, Walter Hill, Peter Jackson, and the Hughes Brothers. Michael was also seen in HBO's second season of Mike White’s critically acclaimed hit series THE WHITE LOTUS.

My Uncle was a train engineer. They were going to wreck. He got everyone off and then he didn't make it. He was my favorite Uncle on my dad's side. He used to tell me to quit behaving and learn to don't 😊❤

I'm 67 years old and I still remember him telling me that. ❤️ He was telling me that you just be you and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Of course at the time I loved it because I thought he was saying exactly what he said. I was a kid. A beautiful Man who gave up his life for other's. I remember I was in NC and couldn't get there. 😢

I saw that Michael’s Nono was killed working on the railroad as a cleaner. My first job on the railroad was as a coach cleaner.
