It's the "Last Train" - a remake of a UK 1999 tv series of 6 or 8 parts. It's the same basic plot of a train coach shifted into the future, with surviving passengers having to realise they have to work together to live. I do wonder if the Japanese writers and series runners knew of "The Last Train" having been on UK TV in 1999.

Extremely unrealistic and impossible for humanity to go extinct from such a small asteroid. It doesn't make sense that there's practically no buildings left after this little time have passed, if the asteroid would blown away the infrastructure, then there wouldn't be any trees left either. And with how fast trees have grown back with clear skies, there should at least be a few billion people left on the planet. The probably most unrealistic thing is the whole, satellite crashes into an asteroid which redirect it to accurately hit Earth. Space is f*cking huge and there is colossal distances between planets which for that asteroid to hit Earth by being nudge a little is pretty much impossible and I'm pretty sure that just a satellite crashing into a extinction level asteroid would literally do nothing with how small the satellite is and how slow it moves. If they said that they were travelled 1,000 years into the future and this movie could be more believable with it being around that long for most of humanities infrastructures to decay and Earth could have recovered over this much time, but then they need a new plot how they would receive the news of the future asteroid.

when the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs hit earth the global temperature dropped by 26 Kelvin for decades. it took around 80000 years to mostly recover to normal temperature and pH levels in oceans, so its safe to say that not much thought went into the script
