Kidaikarthu kashtam bro cz soul growth ku you need two things one is mental strength(Mano balam) and spiritual strength(aanma balam).mind strength can be developed easy from our day to day experience but spiritual strength(aanma balam) u need some assistance from higher end that is higher souls and God . From ur point atheist they won't believe in religious practices(reason behind worshipping god)or spirituality(exploring the real reason of their birth) or nature's law(exploring the reason for creation).their perspective is different bro but if they have the taste of soul growth in their previous births that may help them to attain soul growth .
