A front shell sounds genuinely dreadful to replace. Way too hard and niche of a repair process for a vast majority of users.

The thermal pad actually decreases the temps by around 5C. It's quite the improvement if you ask me.

Very glad that you've shown off every color on the deck in this video. I wasn't sure which color to pick and every time Jsaux promoted these ahead of time the colors seemed to look different from the last time. (Makes sense as those were mockups and pre-productions) Thinking of going with green as I really like the somewhat turquoise shade here.

Man, That purple is sick and while it looks more vibrant on the white background, the color really looks good when it's against the darker internals. The red one also looked good on the table but is sadly a bit darker than i'd like myself once installed. needless to say price point and design quality is on point. the threaded inserts and extra back buttons are great for the price.

I ordered a Steam Deck the other day thanks to the 10% anniversary discount. I really like the progress that valve and the Deck community have made this last year. I have faith that this is and will continue to be a well supported platform for years to come. The blue color is my favorite as well. followed by the clear, red, purple, green, then brown. I'm excited to get my Deck. Love your content!

Those additional buttons look so nice. The default ones the deck come with are great, but having the replacements be raised up is such a good idea.

I have the red back with red trackpad skins and red thumbgrips and looks way better than a skin to me personally

My favourite is probably the blue or purple ones. Purple is a personal favourite, but blue fits more with the rest of my setup. In hindsight that green one is fairly blue, actually, I also like it.

Man Blue is also my Favorite colour, and I must say that it's a really beautiful combo. I found it kinda funny that just as you said about the red one being a bit too dark, I was thinking on how it was a shame that the red looked better off the Deck than on it.

I've been waiting for atomic purple since the day I got my deck. I knew one day someone would make a good shell. If only we get something like a replacement motherboard one day where we can upgrade the soc but retain the rest of the steam deck hardware. Would result in less waste and be an awesome cost saving option. Certain other companies have offered this for their handhelds...

Clear for the win. Of all the colours, purple is by far the best, imo. Otherwise they all look like they're made with top quality materials, love the design of the back buttons.

I’m really into that turquoise/green color! Waiting for the 20th ;). Unfortunately a lot of people on Reddit seem to have quality issues with the jsaux shells (sticky buttons, gaps & sharp edges). I hope they‘ll fix that.

The best compliment I can give jsaux is that I'm finding it really hard to pick out a favourite. Green edges it just slightly for me. I definitely want to do this mod some time soon :)

Hopefully you and Jsaux are able to work things out, they seem like a very capable company but at the same time they need to move away from some of their practices. Thanks for letting us know what was going on, I appreciate the transparency that allows me to understand exactly what is happening to content creators agreeing to deals like this. I plan on starting to create content soon and something like this is enlightening, it helps me to understand what contracts and agreements can have in the fine print (or what they can unlawfully do because they know you signed a contract) and I will be sure to look out for issues like this

Ordered my purple case a week or so ago, glad to see this video! I should probably decide if I'm going to keep the thermal pad on or not, though... Jsaux themselves state on the product page's FAQ section, "It will not affect the original heat dissipation of the Steam Deck. Because the air inlet and outlet of the steam deck heat dissipation are separate heat dissipation pipes, and the thermal grease will not block the heat dissipation channels." But there's real world testing saying otherwise too, and it doesn't help that I'm in a pretty warm country lol

Thank you for showing how it looks and plays without the thermal pad! I was eyeing the clear blue shell and it does look really good, I just didn't believe that the cooling pad would actually help that much. To bad you can't get rid of the black block for a all clear clean back shell. Maybe in the future they will create a new mold!

Thanks Taki, I was able to switch my order from the original case back to the blue one and I couldn't be happier. I'm glad you showed everyone what all (err, almost all) the other covers looked like. One thing I noticed was the screwdriver in my JSAUX kit was way too small; was a Phillips PH00 I think. All the screws were gripped much better with a Phillips PH1 screwdriver instead. Also, I trimmed that sharp point on my shell by the R1 & L1 buttons. Seems like the original deck case back was just as sharp though. I already have this case back, so please don't pick me in your giveaway. Thanks for the great content!

PSA !!! PSA !!!! PSA!!! - the deck uses Threaded self tapping screws. what this means is DO NOT over tighten them if you take your back over off. you will strip your decks ability to tighten its back plate securely. also take note. the screws on the deck are as soft as butter, i kid you not. when going to unscrew put enough pressure on the back of the deck so it don't jump. also use the correct size screw driver. a set of longer glasses screw drivers like the one given to you in the kit will work out fine. i didn't have the back plate yet so i didn't have an easy option. the dollar store did sell the screw drivers tho

I tried this but much preferred the Valve stock back. A quality cooling pad that size would cost more than the back itself so not surprisingly it doesn’t lower temperatures or the fan. What it does do is well is cause a very hot surface to now be available to touch with your fingers.

As someone who was always a fan of the gloss clear shells on the Switch, I'm pleasantly surprised by how nice the frosted ones look, huh. as a side note, I'm a bit colorblind so I may be off, but the blue one seems like a really decent match for the steam system colors.

i been waiting to order from these guys, i want the case but i've seen mixed reviews on the case. first EVERYONE loves the look of it. even the haters. the issue comes up with ventilation and the fact they basically have a giant heat sync thermal pad that is just thermal soaking its self with out much cooling feature. yes its doing something, and i've see people install a cell phone cooler over that heat sync that seemed to help. personally i like LTT's idea but he took it to the extreme and added +10 to it. i still want the case to mod it myself
