That was excellent. Can’t wait for part three. Truly love the tree growing in it and also the gentle way you carefully removed all of the interior parts to get at the engine that was very nice. You are a crazy person. I like the idea of a open concept with no windshield no nothing that’s it’s a crazy looking boat

Like the open concept. I'd gut it out. Make an engine hood, add a few chairs. It would make a nice catfish / ski boat. That engine has seen better days. Braze that crack closed, I think you could have a lot of fun. Probably even move faster without all that stuff inside. Good luck.

I love it when something considered trash is restored to enjoyable service. One year I encouraged the alumni from our six-month drug and alcohol rehab program to restore a '66 Mustang. That car turned out beautiful and was featured at the Long Beach Grand Prix exhibition. The men showcasing that car told visitors who admired it, that they too have been restored.

Projects, inventions, you name it we tried it or tried to build it. Now an a/c technician I enjoy watching these videos that I can relate to. Good job getting that engine and drive running again. Be nice to see you give it a bit of pressure wash and spit and polish, I'm sure it would come out nice,. My friends let their 1950s cruiser drown in the salt water not long after they rebuilt the engines, real shame, could have gotten them running with a bit of effort

there is techniques to repair such a crack but where it is located, the chances for a successful repair are slim because the seating of the head gasket, if the block heve been cracked between the freeze plugs, the chances of success make it worth to try it. I had a very similar case on a V6 engine and I replaced the block.

I've got one of those "trashliners" sitting up on blocks in my backyard as well. Also a freebie from a friend. (The trailer is under another boat) Has the Volvo Penta 2.3. Not sure if it's locked up, but I know there's some freeze plugs out of it. Also needs a starter. Got a boat from a friend with the same motor, but that boat turned out to be in better shape. The Bayliner I stripped all the way down to the hull and cleaned the trees out of it. Stringers were good, but crossmembers weren't. But I've been raiding it for parts for another boat I have. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. I really like the square guages on the dash. May put those on another boat.

Can you do a "how cheap can we do this with stuff around the house" part 3? :) Maybe use some old pallets as subfloors, scrap wood piecemeal flooring, old kitchen table chairs screwed into floor for seats, maybe an old steamer trunk for an engine cover. Could even maybe use a PVC flange screwed into the bottom of an old kitchen table chair, then whatever size PVC into that, with a matching OD to ID flange/pipe on the floor to make a "swivel" seat :) :)

@@NoNonsenseKnowHow Thanks! We recently got our first boat, an "old" 1993 Sea Nymph (small v hull basic fishing boat), and it's either missing a seat next to the driver, or has the capability to move the very front seat back to the hole next to the driver. I was thinking of doing the PVC flange thing with a pipe that would fit in the seat mount hole already in our boat, but it seems like it could be useful for any cheap fixer upper :). Maybe you'll get to it before I do so I can see how it works lol. It's cold here in Oklahoma too so not much is getting done outside

I used to build those things, worked for Bayliner for over 26 years. They closed up shop and went to South America. Best thing that ever happened always harping on the people to work by harder.. It was a sweat shop. Furnace would keep the temps at 80-85 degrees. You have what was called a CT model I think. Check your serial number on rear right corner of the hull. Will have model and year built.
