As a diaspora non-Zionist Jew, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this well-articulated explanation of the difference between Judaism and Zionism. Particular thanks for articulating the little-known direct familial connection between the Jewish fascist Ze'ev Jabotinsky and Benjamin Netanyau.

I was a Zionist for 60 years but I see what Zionism led to and what Israel has become. My eyes do not fool me when I see the City of Slaughter of 2023 and 2024 and it is Gaza City,it is Khan Younis, it is Rafah.

Dear Rabbi Shapiro. I have always had the utmost respect for the Jewish religion, and the fact that Judaism is a lifetime of spiritual practice. I do not know very much, but I believe in its significance to living a truly spiritual life. I am beyond grateful for your voice in helping me navigate the confusion, especially since the outbreak of the recent conflict. I am an RN and I also believe that trauma and its destructive consequences on the human brain (all confirmed by credible evidence) helps explain the inconsistencies of and contradictions of Zionism. Your commitment to spiritual practice shines through in your presentation in a way that it is impossible to articulate. Yours is a reassuring voice of sanity in these very traumatic times. I am so glad I found your channel. Great respect and Love.

I learned so much from this. As an Indigenous person in Canada, I have struggled to know more. I thought the fight for the land of Israel was the same as fight for our lands as Indigenous people. But then when I learned about Zionism, I felt Zionists were like the English and French colonizers in our lands. But I felt if I spoke out against Zionism, I would be called, well, you know. This helps me see clearer. How Zionism is a constructed ideology. Just like how the doctrine of discovery was used for our elimination. I wish I could articulate this better, but wanted to share. kinanâskomitin

The idea that Jews need an exclusively Jewish state to be safe is deeply troubling. Imagine if Christians made such an assertion. Or Muslims, or Buddhists, for that matter. No one would support such a claim. Anything that is exclusive must then logically exclude an out-group, and no matter how that is spun, it always ends with entire identity groups being abused or endangered. For this reason, for everyone's safety, religion must never be a nationalistic goal.

Rabbi Yaakov Shapiro big Muslim fan from Ethiopia. i admire your talks they are very deep & meaningful & keep on wondering how close are our laws with Islam, both our religions are bounded by laws & our daily attempts to pass our final exam in the day of Judgment. Pity Zionists become so keen to eradicate there close neighbors because of it.

As a 40 year old gentile American that grew up in the sticks of the midwest, I have only recently began my quest for understanding in the jewish realm. Like so many others I was ignorant of the difference between true Judaism and zionism. I began my journey by listening to Darryl Cooper's amazing 6 part podcast series called "Fear and Loathing in the New Jerusalem" under his podcast called The Martyrmade Podcast. It taught me a great deal about how the state of Israel came into existence and it's history up to the second world war. It was REALLY well done, as it gave fair perspectives of both the jews seeking a haven from pogrums and the native Palestinians that were at first more than accepting of the sanctuary seeking diasporic immigrants. The flaws of Zionism were first shown to me through this series, and I have been expanding my knowledge on the topic by listening to Rabbi Shapiro and similar voices. As a gentile, especially an American that has only ever known peaceful days at home, I know I can never truly empathize with the suffering that jews have endured over the centuries. But I CAN sympathize, and seek understanding in whatever form that may take. What absolutely gets my goat though, is the fact that powerful politicians in Israel seek to drive a wedge between American Jews and myself, actively subverting people's chances at enlightening our views in order to make ME suspicious and fearful of American Jews and for THEM to be suspicious and fearful of me. That is what truly shows their hand, in my opponion. If anyone of any creed or race tells me they are American first and foremost, and hold our constituion dear in their heart, THEY ARE MY COUNTRYMEN, and I will fight to my last breath if need be to defend my countrymen, from ANY threat foreign or domestic. PERIOD. I would offer for any zionist to prove me wrong... Israel has done so much damage to this world already, throwing shade on the truth in so many aspects of life. I can only imagine how infuriating it must be for the TRUE jewish community to be struggling constantly to be screaming at the top of their lungs to be heard only to see events unfold as they have. It truly breaks my heart. When I watch a documentary on the horrors of the 3rd reich I often consider my German heritage and think "My GOD, how terrifying it must be to see your own people be led down the darkest paths by Zealotry of the highest degree..." and meanwhile Jews are living through it EVERY SINGLE DAY... I for one will do whatever I can to bring people to the good Rabbi's channel in hopes that they may be enlightened as I have been by his words, and I give much thanks to Rabbi Yaakov Shapiro for having the courage to do the HARDEST thing one can do in this life, standing up to your peers when it matters most. God bless.

Thanks Rabbi Shapiro, We used to be members of a reconstructionist congregation on the north side of chicago, I won't mention which, but since he spoke on the record, our rabbi at the time was Brant Rosen, and he spoke critically of Israel back in 2014 and then 'resigned' (pressured out) out as our rabbi... My family left the congregation that year, and it really left a sour taste in my stomach for the 'jewish community' as I saw it, and kind of by extension my practice of the faith has lapsed as well, but you truly gave me some things to think about, thank you so much

As a 'not a Jew', somewhat of an intellectual creton, and 1st time visitor to Rabbi Shapiro, I'm favorably impressed. It's uncommon in today's world to come across an honest man. Moreso one who's well informed and who can untangle the prevailing rhetoric with surgical precision and luminous clarity. Refreshing. Would love to see he and EMJ in a series of discussions. I suspect a lot of work could be accomplished in such a venue, to the benefit of all. If nothing more than to open the gates of our intellectual prisons, restore life to ideas left recklously abandoned and plug the holes in a civilisation quickly sinking into a primordial chaos. Well done, Rabbi.

I've been following your work for years, and I want to express my gratitude for providing me with a deeper understanding and insight into Zionism. Regarding your last statement, as a Palestinian Muslim, I'd like to explain why I would invite you to join or speak at a rally: As you've articulated in numerous lectures, there is a prevalent misconception that conflates Zionism with Judaism. Many people mistakenly believe that all Jews support or endorse the state of Israel, its actions, and its beliefs. What these rallies lack are articulate and knowledgeable scholars and individuals like yourself who can address the audience. Personally, and speaking for many educated individuals in this matter, we not only recognize the injustices inflicted upon native Palestinians but also acknowledge that the Jewish religion has been misrepresented and hijacked by the Zionists. I have often had to clarify the most common misconceptions about this topic. I believe that as God-fearing humans, we should unite, albeit for some 'slight' differences in personal goals for the greater good. This is my personal viewpoint. Much respect to you Rabbi! The question of “what is a Jew?” -and why there seems to have so many different answers- has always been very confusing to me. Now I finally feel like I have gained some understanding of what the question itself even means, and why the answer cannot be “a state” or “a nationality”. You have given me a lot to think about. I am Catholic, but I found this incredibly interesting -- I often hear zionists say Judaism is an ethno-religion because its a religion that is tied to a land (how jews say "next year in Jerusalem" during passover or Shavuot being an agricultural festival, marking the beginning of the wheat harvest in the Biblical land) -- so I found it very informative to hear your interpretation of these arguments made. May peace be upon you

Who stole? Why accuse your brethren of grand theft?? This is a major lie!! Jews came to the Land of Israel and PURCHASED back their ancestral homeland. Lands paid for in full cash. Paid extra, more than the real value. Jews purchased vast lands on the Mediterranean coast line, Jezreel Valley and Jordan Valley which were usually tenant free. Meaning they were not evicting people from purchased lands. No one stole any lands. Jew invested infinite funds into the infrastructure, and laboured hard to make these lands inhabitable and bear fruit. Jews endures severe poverty and diseases for the merit of rebuilding the ruins of their ancient lands. All done legally and recognised officially The Jews owned the majority of the lands allocated to them in the 1947 partition plan. But the Arabs didn't accept any type of Jewish presence in the land, and reverted to the sword to r@pe the Jews of their private lands and any type of autonomy. Why??? The Ottoman Empire collapsed with no association to the Jews. So who gets sovreignty? Jordan invaded, so did Egypt. They took Judea & Samaria and the Gaza strip. They evicted the Jews who lived in those areas. Stole there homes, stole their lands and destroyed their synagogues. The Arab League countries followed suit, expelling Jews from their homes, taking their lands and businesses. Some 700,000 Jews who lived in those lands for thousands of years, were brutally evicted and thrown out with no right of return. Did anyone bat an eyelid? No!! The so called "Palestinians" themselves are and were squatters and migrants, Nazi collaboraters and antisemites. Trouble makers. Why would anyone think of giving them sovreignty?? On what merit?

The Rabbi deserves a bigger platform and I am wishing that his youtube channel to grow to millions suscribers insha'Allah. There are lot of things I did not know and it is incredible how the Zionism ideology brainwashed so many people, thank you for the work you are doing it is much needed.

As a Muslim from England, I was shocked when you said Benjamin Netanyahu isn’t a practicing Jew. I feel Muslims and Jews have a lot in common - see constitution of Madinah by the prophet Muhammad.

Never heard this guy before. Love that great Jewish sense of humour he displays. Christians should all be baseball players (😂) Jokes aside, his take on Zionism vis a vis Judaism is quite revealing. Not sure if many would agree with him but it gives me ideas to bear in mind as I try to educate myself more on Judaism, Zionism and the state of Israel. BTW, I was baptized as a Christian.

Thank you Rabbi Yaakov Shapiro for this upload. It was very educating. When i read all the quotes of Vladimir Jabotinsky, it seems like he was a selfhating jew. it is sad and ironic that people from jewish background who raise their voice against zionism nowadays, are labeld as selfhating jews by the zionist.

As a Palestinian prohibited from living in my land and forced by Zionism into exile, I thank you Rabbi Shapiro. My grandfather’s best friend and business partner was a Jewish Palestinian and that was the general situation in Palestine back in the day, before the dark days of Zionism. Many Jews fled from anti-Semitic Europe, from the fall of Muslim Spain to the emergence of fascist Europe many centuries later, to Arab and Muslim countries where they were welcomed and treated well. We have never been against Jews or Judaism, on the contrary. The false narrative pushed by the West and Zionists, that Muslims hate Jews, is a vile lie and Islamophobic propaganda. We need more people like you dear Rabbi, to teach the gentiles that Judaism and Zionism aren’t the same thing, because they listen to you and they learn. ❤

Thanks. We need Jews to help the rest of us understand. Cause the rabbit hole is deep. And things start to connect. Whether or not they’re right or not, it’s dangerous. It’s hard to maintain perspective, with so much overwhelming information. And silence from other Jews does add to the perspectives that comes from that information. So I appreciate this a lot. Cause people just want to understand truth. Most people aren’t operating from a position of hate. But hate and defensiveness get blurry at a certain point. And that’s evident in all sects, of all people. We all need to critique and help others understand sweat and the larger group that we get lumped in with. Even if we don’t wish to. Cause bridging gaps is the way to peace. The truth is the way to peace. No matter how painful it is to get there. Thanks sir.

I really needed to hear a lot of this for my own conceptualization. I always believed there's a holy continuum of some kind I never thought that people could've engineered history and religion and society so backwards in just a couple generations. There's so many small points but very very sticky points your making that tear apart anything I've ever heard about the why's and what's of Jewish heritance and conversion. Circle back around to what triggered my thought. I feel deeply spiritually bound to this concept of study your talking about. Yes it's just like asian monastic traditions but as a functional group. And you've survived and thrived. It flies in the face of modern reason, but modern reason is a baby with a cash printing addiction. Why do people have to be seen as contributing. Can't being good and working spiritually contribute so much more? Do we need endless technology to continue or is that confirmation bias. Money talks, therefore only money is heard. What can we see and feel though...
