When we have invested such a great deal of ourselves in something so much bigger than we are. Helping to build a glorious empire with a close knit team that achieves so much that we are proudly celebrated for our efforts, it helps give our life meaning. It helps get us out of bed in the morning and hit the ground running... So when we lose it all, when that grand empire falls it takes pretty much everything with it. I know this because I once helped to build such a kingdom; a dream job you might say! A place where I felt so content in life, as though I was a part of something which made a real difference in the world. Having become a vital member of the team, able to apply my natural talents to the role, I chose to believe that I’d found my calling. That I was where I was supposed to be!
But beliefs of destiny aside, in the end this “calling” only lasted a mere 6 years before it came to a grinding halt. Due to cooperate restructuring the company that employed us withdrew support and so our small business had no choice but to close down. Before I knew it, our close knit team drifted far apart and I was forced to move on alone. Leaving behind nothing but a fading memory of what we once were... So this poem pays tribute to that entire experience.
Best wishes
Westley

I'm so sorry my last comment did not first give you, my love for your poetry. My Manx cat... That's why I deleted my comment. She was on my lap: I meant to give you a bit of poetry from my home to yours.
