I’d probably die from infection because there’s no way I could keep myself from trying to cut, saw, or sand that stuff off. When I was a kid, I got a huge wart on the inside of my wrist but I didn’t know what it was and I didn’t tell anybody about it. It was formed by cylinders of tissue. I would sit in class every day and snatch each cylinder out one by one even though it hurt and bled. It would grow right back and I’d pick it off again. Over and over, until one day, it didn’t come back.

He might need to be on immunosuppressants, too, which can cause other issues. But, as long as he's not in pain now, I guess he's happy with what he can do.

I'm a bit surprised nobody says he can control his gross with instruments like nail technicians use, I mean, this is keratin over skin, and you can remove excessive nails without operations or such. I don't mean that I expect him not ever need medical assistance, but I would expect that him and his family can apply conservative treatment to prolong him having mostly normal skin. The main problem with his condition is that he hadn't been getting medical assistance all the time since the condition appeared. Treating something which is gone very far is obviously more difficult than nipping it in the bud, or as his condition is everlasting, just tackling it small bit by bit every time and doing it really regularly. Truly, poverty is his bane, lack of access to medical treatment, not just his health condition.
