Just googled the place out and the history of that place is amazing. Just 120 years ago those places were far away from what we call civilization, to get there was an ordeal, and everything was covered by jungle and the indigenous peoples were not very friendly. Read that England was supporting the mayan indigenous getting independent from Mexico until some massacre of citizens of the british empire, then the queen, I believe Victoria, turned her back to them, and this is when Mexico comes out with an agreement with the British, and the territory becomes a part of Mexico officially, at the turn of the XIX century. The indians resist, and they get their asses kicked by your grandfather. Very interesting, very interesting. I been to Cancun and Tulum many times, but ignored about this fact until this moment.

HISTORY, bro, very important. Been traveling to Cancun and Playa in the last decade and never imagine that this place was so nearby to go and check it out. Maybe next trip.
