Brace yourselves, my lovelies! This is the trendy, nutritious and easy to make chickpea milk, y'all! Seriously high in nutrients and versatile, this chickpea milk can be used in many recipes as well as to be enjoyed on its own, wholesome food at its finest!

THE TRENDY, NUTRITIOUS AND EASY TO MAKE CHICKPEA MILK!
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup of chickpeas soaked for at least 8 hours, then drained
10 cups of filtered water
METHOD:
Add the soaked and drained chickpeas to a blender along with the 10 cups of water, blend it very well. With the help of a cheesecloth, sift the blended chickpeas, add the filtered milk to a pot and stir it in medium low heat for about 20 minutes. The chickpea milk tends to get thicker, if this happens, just add some water to it. After the 20 minutes have passed, turn off the heat and let the milk reach room temperature. Put it onto a clean glass container and store in the fridge for up to 7 days.
If you prefer, you can blend 1 or 2 dates with the milk after its ready and at room temperature, it will add some nice flavor to it however, skip this step if you are using this milk for a savory recipe.

I LOVE this recipe and it's now part of my regular items in the fridge. I use it as a milk subtitute in all my savory recipes and for sauces. Cheap, easy and delicious!

@@josefschiltz2192 The notes here say 1 c chickpea - I assume raw, unsoaked - to 10 c water! (To me that sounds like a lot of water, but I’ll try it). Incidentally if you check out her chickpea cheese recipe below she says it is the ratio of 1 c chickpea : 3 c water. That sounds more likely to be true but that might be far too thick for milk. Okay Jana says late in the video the ratio is 1:10 (plus more if it’s too thick). I was amazed how much starch is in the chickpeas and fell to the bottom of the bowl (I let it sit a few minutes before I could begin cooking) when I used only 3 or 4 cups of water (my blender won’t hold 10 cups). I stirred it all that starch back in when cooking. After cooking 20 min and cooling it I had a nice vanilla coloured chickpea pudding! The will make the cheese with this, thank you Jana

The leftover"okara" can easily be turned into hummus by adding some lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, and tahini. As usual Jana you hit it out of the ballpark.

Great idea but don't forget to cook it. Legumes are toxic in the raw form.

Thank you so much Jana. This is an important subject to me. Cows are so gentle, family oriented, love their babies, and I TRULY HATE what their lives have become. I 💯 percent support the ALTERNATIVE MILK INDUSTRY And cheese , butter, etc. THESE cruel dairy folk deserve every dollar they lose because of their horrible general ideas about sentient beings! Soul crushing! Thank you! This is how we do better for the cows! Cant wait for the cheese recipe!

@@normawingo5116 I began my way thanks to my great grandmother who had chickens in her backyard as pets. She never ate them, they died of old age. Being vegan is good for our health, all living creatures and the environment. What else can we ask for?

Wow Chef Jana, you are lovely in red 😻 As much as I love chickpeas every kind of way, I never heard of chickpea milk. I like the idea of trying a new and different plant based milks and controlling the ingredients. I imagine that you cannot use canned chickpeas, only dried for this one ? Chickpea milk would be good for the planet too. I make my own almond milk and it lasts 8to 10 days in the fridge. I will try the chickpea milk too. Thank you Chef Jana. Love your videos.

Tx for this recipe. I've just discovered chickpeas and am making all sorts of things with it (including aquafaba). I'm finding all sorts of recipes using both chickpeas & aquafaba - chickpeas: milk, butter, cheese, tofu, mayonnaise, flour, protein substitute in various vegan dishes & sauces - aquafaba: cream, frosting, ice-cream, meringues, egg white substitute (it does make mayonnaise but uses a lot of oil so I use chickpea tofu instead which uses a lot less oil)

Amazed at the chickpea to water ratio. Because it will thicken after cooking! That ratio will make it one of the most economic plant-based milks.

Goodness... don’t know why i didn’t know about this before. I make soy milk from dried soybeans. I do cook mine in the iPot so I can walk away and it turns out great. Will definitely make this - have plenty of dried chickpeas. Thank you!

Thanks for this idea. I switched from oat milk to Ripple pea protein milk because of the additional protein factor. However, it has ingredients I do not need in my diet. I've wondered about how to make it myself, with yellow split peas. Soak first, drain, blend with water, then cook? I'd love it if you could share if you've made milk from split peas.

we just bought a soymilk maker. it makes milk from dry beans and it cooks it also. in about 15 minutes for a litre. just push the button then pour through a milk bag. presto. we bought a joyoung brand. it's amazing.

I've dabbled with lots of plant based milks so I need to try this one. My last foray was a fermented cashew milk (raw), which has a nice yogurt like tang. I wonder if this chickpea milk would ferment after it's been cooked. Any thoughts? Thanks 😋

Just discovered chickpeas... it's a game changer! Chickpeas - milk, butter, tofu, cheese, vegan, hummus & other dips & sauces awa vegan "meat" (also using chickpea tofu) etc Aquafaba (cooked chickpea water) - mayo, cream, ice-cream, merigue, egg substitute etc This is a lot of basic cooking & baking ingredients from one humble bean! I'm going to check if you have a basic cooking & baking ingredients playlist for such recipes, orherwise please create one so we can have direct access to these. Tx

Does it curdle when you add it to coffee? Update-I just tried it in coffee and a fruit smoothie, and I did not like the taste & lack of creaminess.
