काफ्का दोस्तोवस्की से प्रभावित थे, इसका एक उदाहरण यहां है। दोनों लेखक अपने पात्र को insect बन जाने की बात पर बल देते हैं। *Dostoevsky in Notes from the Underground:-* “I want now to tell you, gentlemen, whether you care to hear it or not, why I could not even become an insect. I tell you solemnly, that I have many times tried to become an insect.” *Kafka in The Metamorphosis:-* “One morning, when Gregor Samsa woke from troubled dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect.”
