So yes is when you got them to react to a command and you mark with a yes. and good is when they are already doing something and just reinforcing the behavior and mark with a good? Like if the dog is relaxed I would say good. If I put the dog in a relax state I say yes? What age should I start introducing both of these markers?

The first part was dead on. If you want the dog to be relaxed I would say good so you he would sustain the behavior. Technically you can use him out of his command just be prepared for him to come to you immediately to collect the reward. I would definitely teach these makers as soon as possible because this is the language that will build a picture of what is wanted an unwanted moving forward. We start marker training as early as 10 weeks.

A lot of the times we use yes more when we are building behaviors. Good we use more in real life and when out in public to sustain commands.

@@blueskycanine thank you I got a clearer picture now. As for good marking what would be a daily exercise or training situation to develop this marking. Like for yes doing sit, down, crate training is a great way to build this marker. What about for good?
