yeah thats one sad thing about balatro. The game scales so fast that you cant really see a deck to its fullest. You either snowball and win from the start, or just immediately lose. It would be great if it had a slower scaling gamemode with more variety.

@@kuratse205sounds like you need to just play the negative Perkeo negative triboulet seed if you don’t like the fast scaling. By the time you get done with it you’ll be so tired of doing the same actions over and over and over. I had my entire deck fully optimized with the max number of the best jokers possible while still scoring a 5 card hand by like Ante 23-25 somewhere in there. I also had something like $15,000. I mean what else are you supposed to do, it gets boring. What they need to do is add more stuff

The way all the legendary cards are just actual historical jesters really lends them some gravitas. Chicot is really cool, he had a successful military career in the 16'th century, before becoming the royal jester for the French court. He was still allowed to carry a sword, and went on to die of wounds inflicted during a skirmish in which he captured an enemy noble. Kinda makes sense that such a jester would protect you from boss blind trickery.

the story of Perkeo is pretty funny he was a cup bearer and jester at the castle ar Heidelberg. the massive barrel he was in charge of is still in the Schloss. he only ever drank wine his entire life, and would always respond “perché no?” (why not) when people offered him wine. the story of his death is 2-fold, either a doctor told him to drink water because he was sick, or someone offered him a cup of water and he responded with his phrase “perché no?”. either way, he died as soon as he drank the water one more consumable? perché no?

That’s the fun of it, if you want to get better there are channels that show some of the best min/max endless builds, with a max potential of ante 39. Essentially it comes down to knowing what’s worth spending on and when + running calculations helps

The early game can kill you very easily. One unlucky draw or shop can be the end. I've won the game a few times, but the amount of times I died because my first 5 shops didn't have any score joker is very high.

how is it he gets a run defining joker like a hollow burnt joker on ante 1 or 2 every time and then proceeds to misplay it. I'm struggling to survive until ante 4 or 5 to find a single joker like that and he almost always gets them immediately but then ignores the easy broken strats with them. Like dude this whole deck is centered around flushes, you almost draw 2 in every hand (in fact if you get +1 hand size you are guaranteed to always draw 1) just discard flushes and then play your leveled up flushes. He really said "Am I crazy for going for a pair build" and i'm like YES BROO, YOU ARE INSANE.

Is it that weird to get burned joker really early and decide that it's for levelling the most accessible hand types? It only works on your FIRST discard. You need to spend hands to get different cards for it. His decision made sense to me, even if it is the flush deck

Not weird at all, it's usually the correct play to level either pair or high card with it imo. The only thing is that because it's flush deck you're extremely likely to be able to use your first discard for flushes while playing 1 hand at most (guaranteed without playing any if you get a single hand size buff) - they're probably more accessible than even pairs. Even so it's not like pairs are that much worse - the scaling for flush isn't that much better than pairs so it's not like it's awful, and it's better content lol.

I just had a run with the burned joker and the duplicating joker, and they work together to add two levels every discard. Then after the discard I moved the duplicator to the mult-multipler. It was a whole thing. They even put in a boss blind that hides and scrambles the jokers, just to catch anyone who built around the 'move the duplicator around' mecahnic. Anyway, that was my first 20M run.
