Phil, owner of Columbia Cycleworks and partnering manufacturer with EcoSpeed, maker's of high-performance electric assists, shows the features of his Tripod Velomobile.
He describes the suspension, brakes, headlights, turn signals, brake lights, and tail lights. The tripod includes a charge port, autoglass front panel, windshield wiper, lockable cockpit, with hydraulic gas struts and hinges. The top is also removable for summer riding.
The EcoSpeed system www.ecospeed.com/ includes a 1000 watt mid-drive motor assist system which drives the chain and leverages all the gears for great hill climbing power. The system comes standard with a freewheeling crankset so the motor spins the chain rings without turning crank arms. Optionally this system includes a Cycle Analyst ebike computer to monitor speed, distance, volts, watts, battery cycles, etc.
The tripod is built with a battery storage compartment which holds the rechargeable lithium battery system and charger. With about 1000 full battery cycles and 30-40 miles per cycle you've got lots of assist for years to come.

Hey Paul! Thanks for the compliment. It is actually quite stable. Some trikes, because of their ability to make really sharp turns, combined with a higher seat can be flipped. The combination of the extra weight of the shell and low mounted battery, the width of the front wheels, and the steering (which doesn't allow for super sharp turns) makes this a very stable ride.

Ok. With regard to the TOT event I'd check with the guys at Columbia Cycleworks, Phil or Curtis. I know they are pretty busy keeping up with demand right now. They do local (Portland) test rides and a few Portland events each summer but it might not take too much convincing if there is enough interest.

I think Yuba panniers are a bit long for this one but normal sized panniers fit nicely just behind and still outside the shell body.

If you need stabilization, opt for the software side when you edit. A lot of the common video editors have it built in. KZbin's stabilization give a lot of people headaches, myself included. Side topic, any chance of bringing one of these to the TOT event in Idaho?

How much does this cost though? I like the ELF electric bike because it has a 100w solar panel on top that charges the battery as well as the option to plug it in. It even has a model that will fit a passenger & space for several bags of groceries, but it's over $5,000. At least this has a locking "door". The ELF doesn't even come with doors standard. There an extra option.

salsagids You won't get wet in the rain or on wet pavement. I have a Tripod so know this for sure. As the front wheels are off to the side you get no spray from a wet road whatsoever.
