Real clever....you're finaly a stone throw away from the white mountains, so you draw the supreme attention to yourself (and the nearby freemen) by destroying a tripod...10/10 for flair....1/10 for strategic wisdom!

But it seems like there was no other way to escape the Tripod that they were underneath. In the books the Tripods are impossible to beat in an on-foot, overground pursuit.

No time to collect their stuff after destroying the Tripod but then 10 seconds later they stand on top of a hill in full view of approaching Tripods wondering at the mountains. Some of this is mind-boggling terrible. .

In the book, it is Will who destroys a Tripod with a grenade, not Henry. Also, I didn't like the part where they had to leave everything behind. Why didn't they just have the stuff with them when they moved up to the hill?

Considering what we learn of The Masters in Season 2 and what they look like, how the explosion of one grenade reduced the Master in that Tripod to green ooze is bizarre. Then again, they are a mysterious bunch of aliens so anything's possible.
