Most cars have early problems,but the Stag problems have in my view extended its life because people liked them and knew that it was a good car but needed further development and it was sorted out by a loyal group of car enthusiasts and that,s why so many are still around.

British Leyland, quality and reliability aren't words that naturally accompany each other. Stag was a great concept poorly executed. Today a good one with its problems sorted is a lovely old car to own.

Let be honest, no car of that era came with any kind of reliability or quality! We're not talking Lexus build quality here! Jags, less said the better. Rolls and Bentley are series money pits nowadays. Lotus, well, you know what that stands for!

I had a Herald and the bonnet used to swing open when you put the limited power down. It wasn't helpful.

Had one TAY 530N beautiful car sounded fantastic but unfortunately an utter pile of temperamental rubbish that cost a fortune, driving a car that you think is going to let go at any minute is bad

why are you asking Women ??? they are only interested in their grandchildren and handbags
@brendanoneil34897 ай бұрын
Women actually do tend to like Stags, bit of a generalisation but that was my experience. The amount of couples in the Stag owner's club quite notable too - wheras the Lotus or Kawasaki groups are all guys.

...a good car that needed development? Sounds like the usual from BL, another fail.

Being a seventies car problems of rust as well as triumph being part British Leyland meant shit quality and of course the triumph v8 over heated when they could have used the more reliable rover 3.5 litre v8 thank goodness they don't make them like that anymore.
@paulhunter1232 жыл бұрын
from various sources i hear the rover v8 wasnt an available unit to triumph at the time
@juststuff52162 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't call the Rover/Buick V8 reliable or a good engine. Weren't they responsible for many a Range Rover break-downs, and less than reliable TVR's? And how many Rover SD1's have I seen with blown engines! Let's be honest, the 3.5 .... we're not talking Lexus reliability!

@@juststuff5216 it was likely a bit more reliable than Triumph's attempt at a v8 however at the end of the day British Leyland was plagued by poor management which lead to a lot of shit cars too many brands a lot of industrial relations problems a British government that couldn't sort out monetary policy all in the long run lead to the demise of British Leyland.
