Saw the Stag in a showroom in Nashville. Tennessee back in '72. Was just starting my career so I couldn't afford a can of beans let alone an unforgettable car. I've never forgotten that beautiful car.

Great channel Arry . I'm looking forward to watching the progress on the engine rebuild . I had a red '75 manual Stag back in '77 ( reg no. 143 TIK ) and kept it 'till '82 . I had to replace the engine on mine in 1981 after the crankshaft broke in half in the south of France . It took me months to find a replacement Stag engine but there was no way I was going to shove a rover engine into it . Nicest car I ever owned and despite it's bad reputation , it never gave me any trouble apart from the crankshaft letting go . I still miss it even though it's been gone 37 years . This one is superb . I love the paint job , the chrome and the interior but I think I would prefer the original wheels and steering wheel .

This has to be my dream Stag,that colour is absolutely stunning, always loved that colour, but on that Stag looked even more special, and that colour interior is superb, if I won the lotto I would get this company to a second version of that car exactly as it is seen there ! ah well, dream on 😍

A beautiful car - subtle and yet eye-catching. Only one problem stops it being my dream car, it's an auto. When I was looking at Stags to buy in the late 70's I tried several autos and two manual with o/d - the manuals if I remember correctly, drove night and day better than the autobox cars. Better acceleration, better top speed, better mpg. However, this is Still a great Stag ...

Should have used an oil pressure gauge from a TR6 which would have matched the stags styling.. The temperature gauge should have been put where the clock is.

Amazing always wanted one never got one 53 still find myself looking at them theres one I’ve seen on the net looks just as good but with better interior it’s got a crisscross pattern and the dash is the same colour in cream would like to see the two of them side by side
@toneskill5 жыл бұрын
how much would it cost to do one like that.??
@robertpeach79562 жыл бұрын
To me to class it as the Ultimate Stag it would have to be like the 4 wheel drive one or the Supercharged one or as someone else put Fuel Injection added not just a good paint and interior job.
@marxman376 Жыл бұрын
It is no doubt a beautifully finished car and possibly the ultimate restoration but definitely not the "ultimate " Stag. If it were then it would dispense with the roll over bar. And before you all say "thats part of the design " an Ultimate customiser like Chip Forse would incorporate that in the design.It would have a better engine and suspension and many other mods. This just a beautiful and tasteful restoration imho.

It is absolutely beautiful but it looks like the clock works. Everyone knows a proper Stag has a faulty clock! ;) I think I'd get OCD trying to keep that one clean though.
@Fintoman5 жыл бұрын
What do you expect? The clocks were German (Kienzle). Being German they were still right twice a day though. Sorry couldn't resist.
@PhilipShand11 ай бұрын
Ultimate ? Nah. Manual thank you & proper wheels.That'd do,along with the Nissan half-shaft change. That's closer.........nothing wrong with the motor as with carbs,plus larger capacity radiator with thermo fan. Done. Just drive & listen to that unique Stag exhaust note........ Now,THAT'S perfection

Sorry but I hate the steering wheel... Yuck. Genuine Triumph wheels were always great on the sportier cars, especially the 60s wire ones from the Vitesse Spitfire GT6 TRs and then the more modern Dolomite / Stag ones.
@mikegmdw15 жыл бұрын
just seen this video - beautiful looking car for a no expense spared resto. My choice would have been to have it fuel injected.
@stratac305 жыл бұрын
I can assure you no Triumph never came out of the factory in that condition. I had a GT6 Mk3 new in 1973 and looked good when collecting it, except when looking closely the primer was still showing through under the sills. Attention to detail was not good, it's no wonder BL got a load of flak from the press and public in the 70's and 80's.
@junior11384 жыл бұрын
I’m gonna court controversy: I don’t like it. It’s a bit ostentatious for my taste. I don’t deny the standard of the restoration: that’s quite, quite clear. I just think it’s a bit, well, bling.
