The Miami race is promoted by FOM, so there is no sanctioning fee unlike Spa. Events like Melbourne still pay a $35m USD sanctioning fee (more than Spa's $20m USD), of which $15m AUD is subsidised by the state government. It seems that FOM are hedging their bets on whether Spa or Kyalami can offer more money for them, before deciding on which race of the two to put on the calendar. Such greed from FOM is unfortunate, of course.

I don't know what will happen but if the FiA follows the same system as FIFA you're name will be married to your ticket. You'll still be able to resell it at a cost for transferring but places like StubHub and local last minute ticket sellers along The Strip will lose out. Don't get me wrong Vegas will do well (regrettably) as it has firmly established itself as a Sports Mecca: NFL, NHL, NASCAR, F1, and soon to be MLB. Of course there are the additional events held at T-Mobile Arena (like UFC). In November NHL and NFL are going on. Couple that with F1 that weekend, well, it would be insane.

The big concern I've had, even when they first mooted the idea of a race in Miami, was the risk of the sport making the same mistakes as they did when it previously tried to expand in the US in the 1980's. With where they eventually decided to stage the race, in the car park of Hard Rock Stadium, with a track surface that breaks up more quickly than any of the late James Hunt's marriages, overly inflated prices and naff touches like the fake marina seems to reflect more on where they would have wanted to stage the race, rather than the less then glamorous location they are stuck with. What's more, turns 12 to 15 give a glimpse as to its true colours, a car park with the tight, micky mouse section that is only ever single file, making the resulting straight even harder to even think about making an overtake

As someone who is born and raised in Miami it’s great to have a race that us Floridians can go to especially now we have Logan on the grid. But it seems to be such a money grab from F1 promoters charging ridiculous prices for average seats. I know many people bought tickets thinking they could resell them because last year the tickets sold out very quickly. But that’s ruined the market for actual F1 fans it’s a normal race just as any other but just because it’s in Miami doesn’t mean it should be as expensive or more expensive then races like Monaco. It’s a soulless race but I believe could be changed by Lessening the dependence on all the extremely expensive viewing experiences.

honestly i enjoy driving most of the circuit on a sim (aside from that shit before the backstraight), but i agree with the majority that the racing around Miami last year was abysmal. and when there was action we barely saw any because the cameras were too busy panning the crowds of people in the stands

That is some crazy prices for the General Admission areas. I found that when going to the F1 races at Indy the hotels had one price for race fans and a different price for everyone else. The race fans had to pay a lot more for a room.

The prices for Las Vegas are even more ridiculous. Take a look at that bs. Crazy. I work 60+hours a week and have always watched F1, live in the US, and can't afford to go to any of our events. It sucks!

This year was my second year, and for Friday and Saturday marina grand stand tickets I payed around $200. Sunday was more, however one of the things I learned is you can valet at the Hardrock and bus over which was cheap, so that was a nice parking workaround

VIR too, hell even the purpose built circuits in Canada (such as Calabogie and Shannonville, which might I add if flatter than most airports) provide great racing.

while the ticket prices in miami are high, it's quickly becoming the most affordable and most enjoyable race to go to in the states. ticket prices at the 2023 USGP are up nearly 50% compared to 2021, and because of COTA's location you're forced to fly into one major airport and stay in downtown austin at 3-4x hotel or airbnb rates and take a $150 shuttle that last year took 2+ hours of waiting in line just to board a bus to the track on race day. in contrast, the miami GP is situated in the middle of two major airports and several major south florida towns with plenty of accommodation, all easily accessible to the track via free shuttles that rarely have any wait times. while the on track action might not be as exciting, the overall race weekend experience in miami is certainly worth the (only slightly this year) higher price tags.

I actually went to the race last year. It was pretty cool it was super freaking hot. There was no shade. I only went for the Sunday because I wasn’t gonna spend all that money but I do have to say you don’t really get to see the track because the grandstands are everywhere so even though you just have a general admission you end up just watching it in the stadium because that’s the only place you can watch it.

i agree wholeheartedly with Lewis's remark about drivers not getting consulted but he's wrong. He's driven on a track designed by racing drivers. The current Albert Park layout was designed by Mark Scaife, multiple winner of the supercars championship. But it stands still that if supercars is smart enough to listen to drivers, why isn't F1?

Now THAT is surprising! Now I've been to Florida before and the humid was horrid however the fact that you clarified is more clarifiable = understanding why they did what they did even after getting so caught up to the point where they had to do "SOMETHING"! Other than that I loved your video & I'm glad you made such a great but troubled orgin of Miami's Prix. Would you make a international troubled prix video? If not I'd understand :)

I went to the race last year and it felt like a forza horizon festival so that was cool. The race itself was meh but not as bad as was portrayed on tv with the broadcasters missing out on a handful of midfield battles. As for transportation and hotels I had no problems surprisingly, I was staying in an airbnb about 25 mins north of Miami and just took a bus right into the venue. I think they have lots to improve on but definitely not as bad as people make it out to be. Oh and they need to get rid of the yachts

Living in FL and loving F1 had me really wanting to go to the Miami race but those tickets prices are so unreasonable. Instead my gf and I went on a 10 day cruise and watched it on TV while on the cruise. I think I won in this situation. Live events are cool and all but watching the F1 race on a luxurious cruise... Hard to beat and 💯 Recommend.

I went to the first Miami GP last year and I paid $500 to stand around without shade and water being sold for prices that should be criminal. I felt like I had been ripped off. This year, seats were also in the thousands and it just made no sense to go, with kids and inflation, who can afford to just throw money like that away.

Its not a good thing for Miami when: A. The first thing that comes to mind is the fake Marina B. I'd personally rather go to Austin And C. For the price of GA, i could go to 2 or 3 NASCAR or Indy races instead

I called the issues with the Miami GP when I heard the ticket prices... I just didn't expect them this soon. Miami is far away for the majority of Americans so it's expensive to travel and the tickets are expensive. It makes the Austin GP look cheap. In a recession can the Miami GP really afford itself to rely on only rich Americans to support it. I can get a ticket for every race in the IndyCar season for the price of a cheap grandstand Miami GP ticket.

I went last year for free on the Saturday, my coworker gave me his ticket cause something came out, even tho I didn’t paid for a ticket I still feel like I was shafted l because everything was so expensive and I lived at the time 20 min from the stadium

Even if I got a ticket to go free this year, I don’t think I’d go, went to the Rolex24 this past January and it cost us $97 for tickets, and I had so much more fun there than f1

My two cousins went last year and are avid motorsports fans. NASCAR, Indycar, IMSA, you name it, they've been to many races for each. From a racing standpoint, they said it was lackluster but as for the experience, they said it was something they had never experienced. Called it "a massive party with a giant racetrack attached to it." Seems like it would be fun to go to once, but from a racing standpoint, I'd much rather go to other tracks. Hopefully, this year will be much better for racing.

Thats why they didnt go to other permanent tracks. They wanted to add thier hype, parties, and experiences. Vegas is just vegas, no reason to make an interest track the place sells itself

I remember the protests against the race and seeing people against it because of "air pollution." There is an international airport and almost as many power boats as cocaine users in that city. Miami is great but if I am going to spend money on a race in the US, I'm going to Austin.
