Hi! I'm 17 and just found your blog, which led me to your channel. I first spent a week on sailing boat when I was 11 and immediately fell in love with the environment. My second time sailing was when I was 14, and since then, I've had the dream of living on a sailing boat some day. At 16 I got a job and started saving money for the future, and I'm currently working on that. I find it fascinating that some people like you have the courage to pursue this kind of adventure, and I hope some day I'll be able to do the same. Thank you for inspiring me to see my dream as an actual possibility! Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷 🥰

Thank you for leaving such a lovely comment! It's so amazing that you have a dream like that at such a young age, you've got the time to work towards it and make it come true! Just remember - you'll never be totally ready. Go for it when the time feels right, you won't look back!!

Just found your channel watched this video going back to others now we are selling our house to go sailing next year. You didn't include insurance was wondering costs?

Hi, thanks for watching. Good point, I should have itemised this separately but it's bundled in with our maintenance costs as it's an ongoing yearly fee for the boat. We paid around £400 for the year but obviously each boat is very different, depending on how much it's worth, where and when you're sailing etc. Hope that helps!

Good summary. But how you managed just £200 per month for two people is hard. £25 per person per week is like nothing

This was a few years ago and the price of food has gone up quite a lot since then, but yes, it was quite hard to stick to £200 a month! We had to shop really carefully and buy things that were cheap in Greece, not what we were used to eating in the UK. Luckily things like fresh fruit and vegetables and fresh bread were all pretty cheap in Greece (as long as we could find bigger supermarkets or market stalls)!

@@TwoGetLost right now I can pull off $25 per week with rice, canned beans and canned tuna. I think sampling the local cuisine is half the fun of travel. So I would really plan for and save up so I can do some more of that. But I understand your challenge getting started with cruising. My own adventure starts next year.
