For those interested you can buy an experimental high wing called a kitfox for about 22,000. Most of the cost for a plane is maintenance and storage. Not only do the wings fold but being experimental means you can make your own modifications to it without a long approval process.

You skipped maintenance. Requires an annual inspection every year (1-2000$) and engine overhaul every few years depending on how much you fly (like, 10-30,000$ idk). Plus parts, oil changes, etc. I've heard in the range of 50$/hour of engine running time for maintenance.

And here I was buying a shipping container storage thing it had a Cessna in it, and it only cost me 500 usd granted it was a jigsaw puzzle. But I had some excellent mechanic friends and my own knowhow and my first of many planes was created! I'm currently working on a cargo transport from ww2 a Dakota!

Yup planes are expensive, even mundane maintenance like changing spark plugs will run ya a pretty penny at about $100+ a plug and two per cylinder lol. Costs ten times as much to change the plugs on an aviation 4 cylinder as it does an automotive V8.

Aviation insurance annoys me. I’m an ATP with over 4000 hours aaaand it’s really just the insurance that is keeping my friend and I from buying a Bonanza. Because I can fly an ILS down to CAT II mins all day long but somehow the thought of flying VFR up to Lake Michigan makes the insurance people shiver.

145.000$! That looks very similar to a Cessna 150, or some kind of early similar model. And you can buy a “Fully functioning” Cessna 150 or 152 for 18.000 USD, say 20-25 for specifically Alaska. Maybe it’s looks are deceiving and it’s a much higher power aircraft. (edit) Looked up the registration and exact model, it’s exactly what I thought, but he has a specifically more powerful version, averaging about 95k for sales. But maybe his has some nice interior or something.

As an A&P I can tell you that the cost doesn't just stop there. Maintenance is MANDATORY. Imagine losing your license for going over 3k miles on an oil change. And parts are NOT CHEAP. a little cheaper in GA but still expensive.
