Spirit and mind are intimately connected in Scripture.
Ephesians 4:20-24 speaks of renewing in the spirit of our mind, and putting on the new man created in the likeness of God, in righteousness and "truth". 1 Corinthians 2:13-15 speaks of the spiritual man (that new man created at the point of regeneration, born of the Holy Spirit) "understands" and "examines" all things - functions of mind, thinking, intellect. Philippians 1:27 encourages believers to live in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, to stand firm in one "spirit", with one "mind" contending together for the faith of the gospel - jointly defending the purity of doctrine of the gospel.
Christianity is both spiritual and intellectual religion. The nature of Scripture invites believers to actively engage their minds in studying, and through that increasing in knowledge of Jesus (2 Peter 3:18), knowing who God is as He revealed Himself through Scripture. Ephesians 4:17-19 describes the direct antithesis of being renewed in the spirit of our mind - walking in futility of mind like Pagans, being of darkened mind and ignorant.
Let us not be like Pagans.
