I personally believe all of the elders are ancient weapons - that all the planets are ancient weapons - who have been given humanoid forms. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the only ancient weapon we have found is a living being. 8 Ancient weapons/deities/Yokai whatever they all actually are, it seems as through 5 of them are loyal to Imu’s cause and 3 are rebelling. Regarding Jupiter: I think (earth)worms don't die if you just cut them, unless you hit a specific spot, otherwise one part of the worm just lives on. They also can split themselves up on their own (e.g. when a bird tries to eat them) to live on. Oda could give this attributes to Jupiter as well, even if it's a little bit redundant considering all of the Five Elders have insane regeneration powers, but this techniques could be become handy in battle.

Minor detail, but I think it's weird that Saturn has not yet shown a full demon form. There's no way that his full demon form has him with a full Santa Claus beard and a face that looks sort of human. The other Gorosei look completely animalistic in their demon forms with zero trace of humanity.

The gorosei also seem to be massive even by One Piece scale, Nusjuro is taller than a 22 foot pacifista and Ju Peter dwarfs even the giants. They seemed big when Sabo first encountered them and their forms were silhouetted, but not this big. Maybe they can change sizes somehow?

With the technology of the past, Devil Fruit users could have just been people who had their lineage factors edited to give them powers of their choosing- and during the void century they were killed by a flood and died in the water- so the water of the world carries with it the genetic factors of the augmented power users who were swallowed by the sea. Water which then makes it's way to trees, the augmented genetic bloodline elements of the users then carries forth into fruit bearing plants transmitting the powers to be passed forward to whoever ate them. Considering the Gorosei may be immortal beings they will not have died since the void century, retaining their original powers and therefore not actually be devil fruit users, but a glimpse into what was a precursor to Devil Fruits.

The falling stars are the fallen angels like from the book of Enoch, the fallen angels are always represented as fallen stars. They were part of the army that Satan lead when he rebelled against God. The Gorosei seem inspired by the Archons of the Demiurge Yaldabaoth which Imu will mirror. The Archon's power comes from the Demiurge so the Gorosei powers likely come from Imu. I would be very surprised if Oda isn't weaving the Gnosis into his story like Tolkien did his, all the signs are there.

If Devil Fruits are restricted forms of devil powers, maybe the Gorosei can't be classified as Zoan. Perhaps the Devil Fruit types are themselves a form of restriction. The Gorosei transform like Zoans, regenerate like Logias and have miscellaneous powers like Paramecias.

The sandworm's name is the only one written in katakana as sandworm, so it is clearly the one from Dune, since the mythical ones aren't called Sand worms, the Dune one is, like how the skeletal horse is named after the skeleton horse yokai. All mythical zoans combine multiple similar mythical creatures though, so I am fully expecting poison for Ju Peter and wilder death powers for V. Nusjuro, and who knows what for Fengxi.

I think it’s crazy how all the Gorosei have abilities that relate to their roles in the world. Venus is the head of finance and he’s literally the horse of death symbolizing the expression “death and taxes”. Mars is based off a bird that flies over places of war to feed on the souls of the dead and he’s the head of the armed forces. Jupiter was mentioned in this video but he’s a giant sandstorm that destroys the soil and he is the head of agriculture. And lastly Mercury is the head of justice and he is based of a demonic boat that goes around burning down villages he deems necessary.

The last thing blew my mind. It’d take forever to explain all my thoughts but the shorthand is that the peoples of OP dream to be liberated and however we got here we can presume Luffy’s dream results in that making him the perfect ‘vessel of Nika’ so to speak. Wouldn’t a nightmare be the perfect antithesis and thematically align with the ‘dawn’ of a new world? An ended nightmare and waking to a new day that is like a dream? Wouldn’t it be perfectly Oda to ironically have a ‘dream’ yokai whose powers manifest nightmares (Gorosei, named but not ‘DF titled’) and whose function and purpose has been the malaise of a waking nightmare? Imu won’t be a demon, may be an immortal (re immortal surgery, which could lend to the following), but Imu is probably someone who ate the mythical zoan aku aku no mi model yume no serei; which will be accompanied by an analogous ancient title resembling ‘warrior of liberation, Nika’. That being said I have a hard time imagining a direct confrontation of an elderly ‘non-combatant’ (a summoner type is what I’m thinking) vs Luffy so I’d presume BB does some shenanigans, possibly even ending up with the fruit and ‘mantle’ of Imu, and that being the final fight.

there is a theory that these clouds show the purity of the fruit's user's soul. Luffy and Yamato are naturally good, their intentions are pure, that's why they have a white cloud around them. However, the Gorosei have many terrifying things on their conscience, so their clouds are black. Rob Lucci also has black because he always wants bloodshed. But that's just a theory.

My personal theory is that at some point, we will see a series of overlaps between the ancient weapons and the gorosei. There’s a strong argument to be made for why we haven’t actually seen any of these weapons and why they follow the same naming trends as the elders. Maybe it’s that these awakened powers that the elders have are some of those weapons that Imu held on to.

I think Imu’s ability allows him to activate or use the Wills/forces/souls inside of devil fruits. Similar to how a fruit from someone dead can be reborn elsewhere and teleports. The Gorosei being extracted Devils Allowing them to be summoned and travel long distances. Imagine Imu extracting the devil from the Nika fruit if it hadn’t avoided them for hundreds of years.

So been rewatching from episode 1 to current. well, I'm at ep 307 and Usopp said something that I am kind of curious about. Do you think it might be possible that they might be a cat or sea-cat that lived to be 100+ years old and their tail spit to become a goblin? There is a yokai called the Bakeneko that really fits this well. Some of this yokai's abilities are that it can shapeshift and possess/manipulate the dead. We know Alabasta has such a reverence for sea-cats they hold religious significance, and strictly forbids them from being harmed. Notably, the Tomb of the Kings contains multiple statues carved in their likeness? Egypt also had a huge reverence for cats as well it being the real inspiration for Alabasta. It's been confirmed that it happens with mermaids at the age of 30 or so, so if in the event this is true could this happen with the seacats or other species? If this cat took the form of Nerona Imu to supplant and take over. There is an old tale similar to this as well, The tale of Takasu Genbei. None would be the wiser but for those that do notice the change they could have been dispatched and manipulated to keep suspicions off them.

Since normal fruits can have the black smoke scarf might indicate their lineage to the devils but since the Nika fruit has a white smoke cloud would indicate that some of the fruits have a connection to gods, angels and the like when they are awakened.

i really love the theory about gorosei aren't devil fruit user, but an actual devil with demonic powers.. it might has highest chances to be a fact.. but it raised another question, how luffy can defeat them? 😂 luffy dead against kaido, which at this point are nothing compared to gorosei.. so, what exactly luffy have to take to just get more power to defeat the gorosei or IMU itself...

He died BEFORE 5th Gear. It only took one big attack from Kaido to kill him, but in 5th Gear, he took Kaido's 1000% Ragnarok club attack, and it didn't seem to hurt much. Since he stretched around one of Kaido's attacks while in 5th Gear, I think 5th Gear can partially resist Haki (especially since Kaido was immune to teleportation because of Haki, but then got cartoonified and stretched by 5th Gear attacks). So Luffy definitely has a shot-the big question is how the regeneration can be beaten.

There are stages of devil fruits after awakening. Like summoning and may be another form that awakens the actual devil in the fruit. That they have accomplished. And soon Luffy is going to as well.

MAYBE, they've been so long using their DF that they dont exist as humans anymore. Thats why they follow every awaken DF user rule but are not presented as so. Even if they are real demons, I dont understand why they can show as humans and as hybrid forms (seen in nasujuro and saturn). If they only were demons that have this specific ability (to shape as humans) it would still have a catch, but the sandworm for example has only its "beast" form.

Let’s not forget that it’s pretty much confirmed now that it was Imu who attacked/killed Cobra with the pointy devil tail. Just adds to your whole “Imu is a cartoon like devil”-theory. Also fits to the notion that Imu is connected to devil fruits and thus created the Gorosei/their satellites with similar DF-like powers as literal Demons serving the Devil.

When they cannot be recognized, he uses simple black silhouettes with white highlights, but drawing a black skeletal horse silhouette kinda spoils the fact that V. Nusjuro is a skeletal horse, don't you think? And while the sandword (the silhouette of a giant worm would just be a dark blob), a skeletal horse, a half-spider/half-cow, a snake with wings, talons and a beak, and a boar with a fiery mane are easy enough to spot, even in silhouette form. It's been almost a year since they were shown. If everyone already knew what they were, the AMAZING double spread on this chapter would've been worth much less

Saturn's fruit can be a Mythical Spider fruit, a Mythical Cow fruit, a Mythical Human fruit, or just a Mythical Yokai/Demon fruit. If the latter, keeping that under wraps could lead to a later reveal, like Dragon also having a Yokai fruit, for example. I'm coming up with this off the top of my head, or out of my ass, whichever you prefer. It's just to point out that there can be other reasons for Oda not to reveal the Devil Fruits complete name IF they are Devil Fruits
