For many years I was a prisoner of severe anxiety and panic. I could only dream of going outside, or living a normal life. I now have traveled alone, to the other side of the world, and lived in solitude in the Myan community in Yucatan, for 2 years. The first book I used as a tool was Eckhart Tolle"s The Power Of Now. The first flight I made was to the middle east, and I clutched Eckhart"s book in my hand all the way. I think he is a wonderful minded person who has helped many. I have give that book to others who suffered as I did. Thank you Eckhart Tolle!

someone posted in a KZbin comment "Eckhart Tolle" changed my life and I kind of thought that was funny, that is when I was just starting to listen to him but he really has also changed my life. It's funny because I have a huge collection of self help books and his is really all I need because he get's too the root of the problems where now I have realized all others are just about fixing the surface problems.

Felipe Mandujano Agree with u 100%. Like u, I've also read so many books on spirituality n self help. While they were usfull, they didn't offer answers to all my questions, which were to why we do the things we do. I love him. His book literally saved me. I had anxiety and depression and came across his book. And my world view shifted. I experienced the deep inner peace and stillness at the present moment without any necessary activities for happiness. Just being still and sitting is so satisfying. The book came to me at the right time. I don't know what would happen to me if I didn't discover it. I got a bit of enlightenment and now more spiritual. You really need an open mind and an open heart when you read his book or you won't get what he's saying at all. You will think he's all mumbo-jumbo. I am really interested in the idea of being a spiritual business leader. Being successful in the external world and still having the inner peace inside. Being present yet, doing all the things a CEO is doing. Like peter sage. :D

This is congruent from Intrinsic Abundance- “I am, I know, I’m here”. Expressed in our lives as autonomy, competence and interconnection. Underlying consciousness is the energy that fuels these experiences. Power behind autonomy (nonresistance), knowing behind competence (nonjudgement) and presence behind interconnection (nonattachment).

I embrace my ego. However It needs to be disciplined and humbled. The ego reminds me of a needy attention seeking child. It throws tantrums and can be selfish. It can be stubborn and competitive. But in reality the ego just wants to be loved warts and all. It is through love that the ego is healed. The elixr of love transforms the ego into a being that no longer requires recognition and separation but gratitude and connection.

It wasn’t until I heard I’m say” you feel that this has a purpose in you life” that I sat bolt upright and realised what and indeed why I look at life the way I do. Wow. Just wow! Thankyou Mr.Tolle

I liken Eckhart’s teachings to an old time TV and with changing channels without a remote. In the old days you would turn a dial on the TV to get to a new station. Sometimes that station would be full of static, loud and quite annoying. Then you would switch the channel and find a very soothing sound and some terrific program would come on. When my brain goes to a channel full of static, I mentally switch the channel to something with much less noise. Starting working on this a couple days ago and really works for me😊

To the people that dislike the idea of linking Eckhard Tolle to a term like success: I think it's a great idea to do that because the people that know about it, don't need his wisdom as much as "lower level consciousness individuals". With catchy terms like 'success' and '10 rules' you get the people to this content that need it the most.

“Take the small steps that lead to greatness”. Also he inspired me with talking about people doubting him, and thinking he was a failure until his book became a bestseller. Thank you Evan and Ekhart 🙏🏾
I liked the rule "Enjoy the Journey" so much.. Celebration moments of happiness/achievement are less frequent and wide across (like graduation, promotion, wedding, get together with friends etc). So if you start enjoying each moment and be in present and come out of uncontrolled mind chatter, then that leads to Enjoyful journey.. Thanks Evan for sharing..One suggestion is that some rules are complete in itself with good context and detailed explanation, but some rules are very short and abrupt and doesn't give the good context, so that rule wouldn't justify why its important and relevant for this topic.

I learned something very important and crucial to me from Eckhart. It was a show stopper on all levels and it prevented me from enjoying my blessed life and always kept me drained and exhausted. I learned how to stop thinking. I didn't know that was a choice, I didn't know I was even doing anything by thinking but it was consuming me. Today I can say I found a goal that I want to achieve which serves my inner purpose, but I will be living my inner purpose by being present and staying still. and as i also learned recently, we think so we can stop thinking. Tolle is often dismissed as being just another New Age "guru". But his position is, for the most part, rational. He does occasionally allude to the concept of a singular, pre-biological consciousness. But this is about 1% of his content. The rest is simply accepting that we spend too much of our lives thinking about the past and future in ways that are unproductive. The kind of thinking patterns Tolle promotes is a practical way to live one's life, and a state of mind in which our ancestors were able to survive in order for us to be alive. Relative comfort seems to have produced excessive rumination because we now have more time to think than survive. But all the most productive and creative parts of the modern world were brought about through a focused, step by step principle - a practical use of the mind.

yes! we are reaching an evolutionary stage where we are learning how to control and be aware of our thoughts than the common historical reality of our thoughts controlling us:)
@gc80326 жыл бұрын
I agree the principle of what Tolle says is wonderful. The problem I face and alot of other people. Is having the mind sit still. With Peace / Love. As an example what Tolle speaks of is partly true and false. As this modern world sometimes takes so much from you. That were unable to find the stillness of now. When this happens it can have profound effects on not only your mental health but also your physically health. And if not treated ( confronted ) this demon of sickness takes control. And is extremely hard to than break this pattern of scattered raceing thoughts stop within . Not then being able to realign the silence and love required within to be able to practice what Tolle speaks off. As an example how would your mind find peace within if I were to drop you in a war zone? And than for you to be be captured by the enemy? Now find peace within. Find that silence required to live in the now that Tolle speaks off. When I ask you about being dropped into a war zone did you find peace? The war zone of the mind that I speak of is not physically being dropped into a country. Were people are starving dyeing being killed where bombs blow innocent people apart / the enemy . But the war of dark thoughts that people in society's suffer each day. Decisions that are made that affect not only yourself. But those around you and thier families and friends. These decesions / thoughts empty actions that naturally follow onto and into and around these people / you. We know every action has a reaction from the reaction. This is what makes the world go round. As a example if i focus on emptyness / silence then this is what I will get. If silence is what you want? I truly want and this emptyness sometimes to escape the maddness of the revolving kaos. Be it the silence required for me to be able to see what is important? But what if i cannot find the quietness within myself to find this silence im searching for ? Than surely im only finding more pain within myself and others around me? It is only pain i will find because of not being able forfill what I am looking for. Than I will only pass on this pain to others around me when trying to STOP my pain. Tolle is only touching one base. Its a wonderful base to live within and share to those who can reach it. But his method is truly only capable for those whose minds have not been thrown in utter kaos and are able to live with stillness in the now of war ( within the mind ). The only way we can truly help yourself and each other is not by sitting still and being empty. But by hoping of your ass and living forgiving and giving expressing true gentleness. Doing through your action which do speak louder than words which do much more than just sitting and listening . Meditation is good there is no doubt about it. What is better greater is doing continously showing compassion and giving continous love. Not Judging what you see for the eyes can fool you. Than you will have and I will have taken the human race a further step forward. With a blessing to prosper in peace. In a giant leap and bound here in earth and in the heavens. Without love your emptyness is just a fake shroud of confinement that will not protect you when your world crumbles around you. Only through action of love and peace will you and our children be surrounded by love. We than can hold hands you can and will stand tall even if your world is falling apart. Because we will be with you. I ask all who read these words to live with actions of speaking with love from your heart. To share your peace of your spirit to listen with a empty mind. To show the children and the middle aged and the eldery. Compassion to be able to sit and listen to who talks to you. With true emptyness and fullness with a loving forgiving spirit you will than forfill your destiny and find true a fullness ten times greater than being empty. You will find that you can live in the now that Tolle speaks of without worrying about the future if you share love. You will find you will celibrate the past only one way. That will bring mankind / humans forward and for a better future path than then in the way things are heading. I ask what is better ? To know how to sit with a still mind or listen with a empty heart . Or to know how to walk and share with a heartfull of love and listening compassionate spirit. That acts when required and will be still when not. With mind that is clear that realises sometimes the best action is no action at all. To have the wisdom when action is required to create a reaction that will be beneficial for continous growth of peace within our world your world. So when walking through life. We love eachother with listening we forgive ourselves so we can forgive eachother. We teach eachother our children with a clear full mind that is empty to accept what comes and goes with a loving forgiving and giving expressing nature true never ending continous compassion for yourself and others Each day each breathe each night each breathe you take. Fill it with the peace of now as Tolle says. Dont be afraid of who you are be afraid of who you become if you cant live with love. Dont Judge but teach our children to treat and love each other as equals. Respect and learn from eachother and eachothers mistakes so not to make them again. If man does not learn from his past mistakes then we are going down a path of pain Through our on selfishness and arrogance will be our destruction. Beleaving were something were not. Listen to your silence listen to your heart feel your breath fill your emptyness let go of what you cant see for if you dont it will only serve your destruction. Hold onto and store what brings you peace. Share this with others and fill them with your peace. Listen to the silence feel it sink into your abdomen let it fill your kidneys let it fill your groin. Empty your fullness down your spine through your feet into mother earth feel the heaven pour into your head have your tounge pushed up in mouth. Sit with your tail between your legs open your groin and armpits. Enjoy your listening expanding contracting filling and emptying silence. Look at you heart relax your palms relax breath in through your nose feel your breathe go over your head down your spine filling your kidneys. Relax your groin and hold your tail bone in lightly. Breath out into your lower stomach fill it with glowing warm love . Remember to one step forward in showing others the way of peace together we can live in peace. Thanks

"Be compassionate with you're self". This helped. I wake up every morning beating myself up over things in my past. I find it hard to understand why I let them happen when I would not now. Eckhart says not to because we can only work with the consciousness we have at the time. Thank you

one of my primary motivators in life when I was younger was striving for "greatness" or as I found in the first book I became obsessed with "Plato's republic" and the concept of "Magnanimity" (to have a great soul). I achieved a lot and was perhaps outwardly perceived as socially successful and attaining a high level in semi pro sports, but I was never at ease. it was in 2006 when I found "the power of now" on the coffee table that I picked it up and didn't let it down until I finished the book. discovering what Eckhart explains as "greatness is an afterthought, stillness is the essence of where greatness comes from, the small act of the present moment." some may call it "Flow" where no time exists, where your name ceases meaning, and the only thing that matters is the act before you. Im so grateful every single day for discovering that stillness within myself and therefore being able to tap into that connection with the earth and other human beings. So much love thank you Eckhart for your small act.

People need to be loved. Until this need is filled, we will try all kinds of ways to feel good about ourselves - but which tend to be temporary as the deeper need is not fulfilled. Until we (as Echart refers us to) "be still and know that I am God" and find that God does love us, be happy in this fulfillment and able to share and give to others, discovering that it really is better "to give then receive". Is God going to change our circumstances to make happy? no - God is going to fill your need for love so that you can be free to give your best effort to overcoming the challenges of life. We are in a conflict between good and bad. Don't depend on consequences (or success as he puts it) to make you happy. Accept the grace of God, and find a way you've been given to be a force for good in your sphere of influence....

That would be certainly be wonderful if people could be loved, but I think Tolle would encourage us to venture into living in the now as the best solution even for drastic things such as being in prison, suffering from cancer, or facing imminent death. We need to change what can be changed and accept and live in what cannot be changed. Lack of love in our past does produce a horrible "pain body" but we can stop that pain from defining our present life.

Raising my consciousness above & beyond, or deeper, if you will, than ego satisfaction at being “successful” has been my intention. Loving NOW & myself NOW has given me all I need. I’m filled & content. Now I can offer my gifts to the world with non attachment to the outcome.
