Just the act of listening to a full talk from Eckhart alone takes me out of my unconscious thinking for a moment and allows me to get a glimpse of clarity into the present. It's so easy for the mind to then just fall right back into its familiar patterns. I find that a high amount of energy is required to keep focus and meditation in the present moment.

It’s not easy for the mind. It *can* be easy for the mind being identified with that it is easy to just fall back into complete identification (=ego). And then there is the ability to be aware of that. It is not more than that, it is not less. I can understand what you’re going through. My mind also brings up these thoughts once in a while. I like how cats are in the moment, how their presence invites us to join them in the now. Dogs tend to overwhelm me. I watched my two cats, Miles (tabby) and Mora (all black, survived outside the first year of her life), to understand how they attend to their physical needs and prioritize themselves. My cat has a special place in my heart, each time,when my pain body rules over my behavior and emotions, she senses first, and giving me feedback by reflecting my moody on her activities, for example, she will stay away from me, and reducing her appetite 😅. And she also able to sense whenever I survive from the pain.

I don't know where anybody else is at right now, but im seeing first hand what happens to ppl when hope is lost. When life is not valued. When animal instincts and pack mentality runs the minds of a large number of ppl. It's a bit terrifying and difficult to find the light in this dense darkness. It's a dangerous place to be when smiling and saying hi to someone will make you search for what u can use as a weapon. So no more smiling at ppl. No more eye contact. No more waving and saying hello to someone just to brighten their day a little. They don't really understand that where I recently found myself.

What is amazing about Eckhart’s story where he could not stand himself and then came to realize that being is purely subjective is quite a feat, going from extreme delusions of self as an object created by thoughts, a critically injured ego we could say, to glimpsing our true nature of pure subjectivity and running with it. I did not have to wrestle with such demons and my thing was not grappling with the past ad avoiding this foolishness came very easy to me, it was the other side of this coin, the lack mentality that comes out of wanting to be somewhere better than the present. I started exploring Eastern philosophy as a teen and that led to me realizing that manifesting lack which is to be filled at some point in the future is nothing other than self-deprecation. 50 years later I’ve come to realize that awakening is a lifelong journey which never stops getting better as long as you continue to seek it.

I am a long time Eckhart Tolle disciple however and recently saw on YT where Tony Robbins had ingeniously incorporated a messiah-esque sequence at the event delivered by Elkhart Tolle… .. to impart and deliver his teaching and wisdom on awakening to the attendees as an integral and important element to this forum. This guy is great. The fact that he was verbally and emotionally abused by his father and still managed to become very close to full enlightened consciousness provides hope for everyone. I sense a good example of trickery by the mind is labels - according to Eckhart. In my family of origin my mother when she was alive would introduce me in public in this manner -she isn’t my favorite yet she is the light of my world. Countless times thru out life I self inquired as to this meaning she assigned as the ego in its need to specialize everything felt quite hurt internalizing it as personal rejection. When I began applying ACIM and listening to Eckhart I felt a break thru -all those years she was giving name to the deeper essence within me and awareness/perception shifted. Which according to the Course is a miracle. Both my parents would be instrumental in the awakening process, then, without my even knowing it until they passed 🙏🏻

The goal here isn’t so much interacting with the vertical and horizontal dimensions (where the horizontal is a measure of time), it’s about viewing the horizontal (past and future) while existing in the now. We don’t want to be doing any traveling here, which involves foreseeing the now for something else, it’s more like I was there or will be there but I’m here NOW.
