For once I think chaos has NOTHING to do with his fall , and I do not think the emperor designed him to be a depraved sadist . No , I think the origin of his madness is the fact that he grew not by being raised by parents but by eating the brains of the criminals of nostromo , gaining knowledge in the process but also getting corrupted by their personality. Normally an Astarte will not be corrupted this way because his personality is already made but here Konrad was a literal blank slate . And that’s the problem he became a sadist but had an innate ( by the emperor’s design) sense of justice which clashed constantly. I think if he was raised ( even by dubious peoples )he could have reached adulthood uncorrupted and then would have used his precognition ability to pick the best path in the future instead of the one who will permit him to indulge in his depravity .
