Perhaps it was a test of the system by Cooper?
@georgereynolds34223 жыл бұрын
Perhaps Cooper simply wanted to do it to prove that it could in fact be done. The money may not have even been a consideration. He may have been harboring a grudge against the airline for reasons only he understood. His calm attitude might have meant he knew he would die that night.

Yes, just yesterday. The Professor that was mentioned in the above episode has quite the fascination (obsession) with the case-he is convinced that his wife, is a descendant of the Somerton man and wants the DNA to test against hers. As a Continental flight attendant, in 1974 I trained on and flew mostly on the 727. I remember being told why the air stairs were fitted with a device that prevented their deployment in flight. Hijacking was a big fear in the late 60’s and throughout then70’s. Thankfully in 43 years I never experienced anything so potentially deadly. Fascinating story, thanks guys.

If the baby passed from accidental dropping on the ladder would there have been blood evidence near the ground under his window? Dropped from a height would leave some gravity enhanced spray? That poor baby. I hope he's resting in bliss. Thank you for another great recap 😊
@dryb3301 Жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. You don't find bleeding from scalp or ENT bleeding due to blunt force trauma to head always. It can be just Intracranial bleeding without any amount of blood seeping outside. I think there were at least 2 of them , possibly 3 . They dropped the baby and he died on the spot. They buried him a little away from house and went on with the ransom plan. The convicted one was surely one of them. All his explanations were utter bs. One may have escaped to Germany just like he told. He must've feared for his wife and son's life ( ironic I know ) and that's why he never confessed. Because other culprits were going to get caught. He must've planned to care for the baby for the period until they get the ransom because he already had a baby of same age. He could've given any bs reason to his wife. I'm glad he was executed. He got what he deserved for killing that innocent baby

How did he know where the baby’s bedroom was and did he have any previous affiliation with the family before the kidnapping? I had heard some time ago that Lindbergh’s sister-in-law may have had something to do with the whole set up. Any truth to that?
@moongoddess5903 жыл бұрын
@Sabrina Grant I read that too. She evidently hid him once and supposedly was jealous of her sister.Mrs Lindbergh. Charles raised some questions for me, he actually bought into Hitler's dillusionall horror of creating the perfect race. Fathered 3 children with 2 German women. Kept (supported) as mistresses. Was rumored(?) He was unhappy with the fact the baby had deformed club toes, feet. Which then to correct it was literally chained down in bed at night with corrective shoes contraption. Miserable to say the least, he wasn't perfect. The youngest child said years later it was hereditary all their children born with same problem. He had also hid the baby a few (once is too many imo) in closets and such. Given the baby's age that sounds uncaring and dangerous. He took the Dr on as go between without looking into his history. Or did he? Just some sketchy things. Nobody knew they were staying at the house that week. Prior to it only weekends, for the house was new. Not completely finished so work was still going on. Lindbergh appointed himself in charge turning down federal help offered by Hoover. Which with what is now known about him, some knowing then could explain why. The pacifier found later, sloppy detective work? Actually Lindbergh found the note later after determined baby missing. When he went back up to look around. He demanded the baby have a ritual nap routine and bedtime. The timeline for him was off that evening also. Odd but nevertheless questionable. I do believe the Dr was somehow connected. Bruno probably. It's plausible a scapegoat. Maybe in attempt to cover another "hide-and-seek" baby's missing. While going down accidentally dropping baby. His "jokes" weren't just on the baby either. Practical joking with a sinister spin, he alone found funny. This one has always intrigued me as well. Have a nice week, stay safe!
@IntrepidFraidyCat3 жыл бұрын
My grandmother always said that the father did it because "the baby wasn't 'right'" and he wanted to protect his image. Personally, I have no idea what to believe. But I was really shocked when I found out Lindbergh fathered several children by German women (2 were sisters) while married. One daughter proved it by DNA. Crazy stuff.

There were whispers that the Lindbergh Baby wasn’t progressed normally. This greatly disappointed the famed aviator who espoused beliefs of racial purity that were taking root in Germany. Further, the Lindbergh’s home was under construction and they weren’t expected to be there that night. “No one” knew their travel plans. Except Charles Lindbergh.

Canadian here! I grew up on the border of Ontario and Quebec, and I can confirm that a French Canadian or bilingual Canadian could easily have read a French comic book and still speak perfect English with no accent. Some Quebecois will only speak French and will have a thick accent, but many Canadians from that region speak both languages fluently and without a discernible accent. The name is another clue, Dan Cooper, which is an Anglophone name. Even an Anglo-Canadian who grew up somewhere like Montreal would have been exposed to extensive French language media and culture. I never heard this part of the story before, so it's blowing my mind that D.B. Cooper might have been a Canuck. In my mind, he may have served overseas in WWII for Canada and fell upon hard times, decided to plan a great caper. I wonder if they've ever looked into whether the D.B. Cooper money was ever exchanged for a different currency (like Canadian Dollars or Pound Sterling). A Canadian could have immigrated to England with little oversight at the time (commonwealth and all). He also could have had a Francophone accomplice, perhaps Dan Cooper was an inside joke. Very intriguing.

I'll add to the Lindberg case.... Mr Lindberg made many disturbing actions during the kidnapping and right before. A short time before the kidnapping he hid the baby from his wife and the nanny and delighted in their fear of the missing baby. Also he wouldn't allow the FBI to help. The theory is that the Lindberg baby had special needs and that was unacceptable to his father...

Love the D.B Cooper story from Chris and that sinister 'Tamam Shud' from Amy!.. On the different note, both of them were really made to do this. I could listen to them anytime. Chris is like your reasonable elder brother while Amy is like his.. cool and sexy girlfriend?

There would have been blood under the latter if the baby fell there.

I read a lot about the Lindberghs as I was growing up. My mother followed them in the newspapers and kept a scrapbook about the case. There were some people who believed the father had done it while playing a trick as apparently he was quite the prankster. I never believed that, but I didn’t think Hauptmann had done it - at least it was rather circumstantial. By the way, when he referred to sitting on the closet, the Germans often use water closet from the British for toilet. Closet or ‘Clo’ is like us saying we’re sitting on the John.

I tried Better Help...I got an awesome therapist but had to quit bc it is very expensive unless you have the insurance they take...no online therapist takes Medicare/Medicaid and its too expensive for ppl who actually need to have therapy
