I guess it depends on the house and it's history. Generally speaking I'm fine with ghosts.. their just us.. in spirit form.. and we are spirit in human form.. so in that sense we are family/brothers.. etc.. there's probably actually a lot we can learn from them.. as they us.. but again it depends..

This was by far the BEST PARANORMAL SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!! From the story plot to the deep intellectual scripting of this movie was absolutely AMAZING!!!! And they played the storyline episode by episode PERFECTLY!!!! And it all came together in the final 2 episodes and it made u go back in ur mind to alot of certain points in the story and go "Ahhhh" because u finally understood the underlying meanings of certain things in the show, and tht was one of the best elements of the show and tht was the hidden meanings of certain things and "happenings" in and throughout the episodes... Each episode had u on the edge and each episode grabbed ur attention and piqued ur interest more and more as the season went on, and Mike Flanagans writing and story of the show was absolutely AMAZING!!!! All the hidden meanings and the different characteristics throughout each character was flawless and their characters each had a seperate meaning behind them, being each depicting a stage of "Grief" and dealing with loss and or death. And they did it sool well!!!! I cnt say enough and cnt explain into words really enough how truly amazing the storyline and the DEEP meanings behind the characters and the House itself and everything that happened and went on in the house and how it affected each person individually different!!!! And then having the Narrator behind it all did such an amazing job which was Steven, who in the show became a slightly famous writer by writing a book about their lives and what happened in tht house and is siblings and family feel like he was the last one who should have told the story of the what happened and about the house itself.. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ANYONE WHO HASNT SEEN IT TO TAKE A DAY TO URSELF AND BINGE WATCH THE ENTIRE 10 EPISODE SEASON IN ONE DAY BECAUSE ITS GNA KEEP U GLUED TO UR CHAIR OR SEAT THE COUCH WHEREVER U SET UP LOL!!!! AND U REALLY HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION AND U REALLY HAVE TO GO INTO IT READY TO WATCH AND PAY ATTENTION AND REALLY HAVE TO AN OPEN MIND AND USE UR HEAD AND IMAGINATION AND TRUST ME ITS A THINKER LOL

Absolutely. It is what you DO NOT SEE that is scarier than actually seeing the ghost. This is much better than the newer one. The scene during which the men are drawn out of the house by what seems to be a dog and the two girls are alone in their room is one of the scariest. The scrabbling sounds seemingly caused by SOMETHING searching along the floor and around the door and then the door being pressed inwards … gah! Also the scene with Nell and the other girl whose name escapes me are sharing confidences is right up there. Nell is speaking and she seems to be holding the other girl’s hand while they are lying in bed in their room. Then suddenly Nell is aware (I forget if she fell asleep) that her bed is now on the opposite wall and she cries out “Whose hand was I holding?” That one gets me every time. Great film.

@@toolongforyoutoread6 yeah the 1963 version in black and white and then in 1978 with Sir Roddy McDowell in the movie Hell House also played homage properly to Shirley’s novel for the most part and equally creepy without the blood and gore that was becoming a founding feature in horror movies at the time but not a staple yet. That year people got one of the creepiest vampire movies ever in Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot. "its likely someone has died in the very spot you're in right now" you're right i sleep in the same room where my grandmother died. defs not a haunted spot tho, she passed peacefully after a long happy life, theres no uneasy trauma left behind.

Every haunting is very different two are never the same, I did work in a cemetery for about 5 years and the things that I have experienced most people would just not believe but I know that they are real I did experience them

I’ve lived in front of a cemetery for a decade and go walking in it almost every night. (Anywhere from 5 pm - 5 am.) The scariest things I’ve encountered are the skunks. The most paranormal are all the wanna be ghosts hunters.

Moss-To be fair Ananya might have meant the original black & white movie adaptation of Shirley Jackson's book from the 1960s. If you haven't seen that movie already I highly recommend it, it's very true to the book & it's genuinely frightening. As a haunted house movie it's a classic, right up there with The Changeling & the 1989 tv version of The Woman In Black.

My brother died in his car in the driveway of his house. My family has a dark, somewhat inappropriate/sick sense of humour. My sister and i both lived at his house for a while after his death (i moved out, she stayed - we cant live together or murder may happen), and we decided the one computer chair (the type that spin) was "Anthony's chair" and "ghost Anthony" would sit in it. Only because sometimes we think it would be facing a different way than we last saw it, but we didnt pay enough attention to know for sure.

"No live organism can continue for long to exist sanely under conditions of absolute reality; even larks and katydids are supposed, by some, to dream. Hill House, not sane, stood by itself against its hills, holding darkness within; it had stood for eighty years and might stand for eighty more. Within, walls continued upright, bricks met neatly, floors were firm, and doors were sensibly shut; silence lay steadily against the wood and stone of Hill House, and whatever walked there, walked alone." -- The opening paragraph of "The Haunting of Hill House," by Shirley Jackson.

I'm disapointed that you did not mention any of the previous movies based on this book. The '63 version with Julie Harris, in my opinion is one of the best haunted house movies ever made, with no blood and gore needed to get a good scare. The last half of this video seemed to me to be nothing more than an ad for the Netflix series.
