Incredible. I'm an emergency room technician - I have seen people come in who had a less than 10% chance of survival walk out of the hospital 6 weeks later. And I've seen people who a high percentage chance of survival, succumb to their trauma. The will to live is a real and tangible thing. You can feel it in people even when they're unconscious. And his reconstructive surgeon was a miracle worker. It was never going to be perfect, but they did a hell of a job. I'm very glad he's still with us.

This is so true. My mom takes care of Alzheimer's patients and she sees so many who give up because their family put them in a home. They can be completely healthy and die within a week or so. Also, she has people who live despite serious conditions because they have a huge support system.

I think it’s because people like this man… they are truly one in a million. It’s intimidating to some people to even want to emulate someone this brave and selfless because most know deep down, they wouldn’t do the same. Those pop stars and actors, literally anyone can do that with enough money. They are built by machines and corporations and doctors. At the end of the day, people don’t pray for hard, evil situations to make them stronger and better. Most pray for comfort, security and even money or fame. This man goes out and actually fights the former so we can have those things in the latter.

Thank you- my father was a lifer marine. He was in Korea and 3 tours in Vietnam. He would only leave type recording for us saying good-bye during those times. He was wounded twice and rarely spoke about his military service but he was a bad-ass. He recently passed away at 92 and I can never fathom what combat was like- to you all I say thank you for your service and sacrifices. I went on to became a physician and recently retired. It sounds crazy but he was so proud of me but I can never thank him enough for what he went through to provide a better life for me.

Jason Redman is a true hero! God watches over you daily. I've often wondered your military story for your injuries on the battlefield. I cried and prayed while watching and thanked God for you and your fellow Navy Seals. We civilians can understand or know what you went thru in that fire fight, and all you endured getting patched up and healed. I'm so very grateful you're here speaking your story. A mere thank you for your service truly isn't nearly adequate enough ! I'll probably never meet you in person to give you a huge hug, but that's what I'd do if I could. That's all I have to give through a very grateful heart to you. God's blessings be in abundance to you and your family always 🙏🏻 🇺🇸

A true hero! Puts everything into perspective for me. A 51 yo woman who has raised my children into great adults, I realize I couldn’t have done that, or continue to do this, if it wasn’t for the men and women who fight for our right to do so. A lot of us, myself included choose to pretend life is good and we are in charge. I watched your documentary & thought “ wow, that happened to him for ME for my CHILDREN and GRANDCHILDREN. What a beautiful man you are inside and OUT! I don’t know anyone with your kind of bravery~ and I have a marine brother, and Navy Dad, Granddads. My marine brother didn’t celebrate his birthday for years after coming back from Iraq~ his ptsd was prominent and he finally told us why. On his birthday while in Iraq he watched his best friend blown up to nothing. He finally was able to start living again, celebrating his birthday again, but it came at huge effort. We have heroes~ and maybe that word doesn’t quite sum up the truth of what you’ve sacrificed for myself and our country and I apologize because that’s the biggest word in my heart of what you are. May God bless you and yours~ and always God bless America.
